Jeremiah Johnson

I noticed there was interest in the movie Jeremiah Johnson. I am in the process of a biography of the real man–John Liver Eating Johnston. The movie, with Robert Redford as the star, was made from the ideas of two books: Crow Killer and Mountain Man. I point out that the movie and the two books are fiction. There are some facts in both that related to Johnston, and they are all great, worth reading and watching.
Johnston, I found tracing his ancestry is distantly related to Clint Eastwood who was considered for the role of Jeremiah Johnson.

I have not put in the real name, although the Liver Eater was born a Garrison, and have left out a lot of what he did in his life, as it took me many years to find out more about him, especially his ancestry.

Dorman Nelson, biographer

Mother Gue never raised such a foolish child.

One of my favorite movies of all time. Lots of great quotes in this one.

Welcome, Dormannelson. I’ll look forward to reading more of your work.

I think he was also mentioned in McMurtry’s “The Berrybender Narratives”, albeit rather briefly. But that novel has a lot of historical distortions in it, so is likely useless as a reference.

I miss lissener’s voice.

You “have not put in the real name”? Whose real name? Your’s or the liver guy?

What kind of biographer are you of you omit much of what your subject did during his life?
