Jericho 2/28 Black Jack

Well…Shows how memorable this show is. Being distracted by A.I. and Lost, I didn’t even notice that it was on last week. Can anyone give a recap? If not, I’ll find it somewhere.

Last week was “The Day Before”. It was basically a few vignettes about what some of the folks who are now in Jericho did in the hours preceding the nuclear detonations.

Interesting bits, spoilerboxed since there’s no spoiler warning in the thread title, and paraphrased by my probably faulty memory:
From what was shown, it appears that Hawkins and a group of associates delivered the bombs in white trucks, to targets across the United States. Hawkins was living with a young woman (not his wife) just before he was called upon to deliver the bomb, and she seemed to be a part of the same cadre. However, she vanished before he could get her out of D.C. Hawkins didn’t deliver his bomb, though, so it’s still unclear whether he’s a part of the conspiracy or a government agent who infiltrated the group.

There was also a bit with Jake, who was trying to get a job as a pilot, but because of some shady stuff in his past that he refused to reveal, he was turned down. So, a buddy of his tried to set up himself and Jake with a job delivering munitions for Ravenwood (remember, the mercenaries?), but Jake balked when he found out that the munitions were to be sold to enemies of the U.S. Jake’s friend was then killed, apparently by Ravenwood, and Jake fled home to Jericho.

And there was some other stuff, like that IRS agent first meeting whatsisface. Whatever. Anyway, at the closing we see the townsfolk having a sort of social, dancing and such, when a big group of refugees stumbles into town. Among the refugees are two people of great interest: the fiancee of the schoolteacher Jake has cozied up to, and the woman Hawkins was living with before he split to save his family.
Anyway, it appears that you can view the episode online, so you might want to give that a shot as well. Tonight’s episode is delayed in my region, due to a televised local basketball game, so it’ll be on at around 12:30 AM. Hope my DVR gets it all.

I came back after last week, since I sort of enjoyed last week’s episode.
This week, destroyed that goodwill. Really, for a couple of reasons:
The conversation between the mother and the mistress.

The whole deal with the trading post. The only thing I found intersting there was the news board.

The Hawkins family drama. Don’t care. Tried to, but just don’t.
Plus, still no radioactive zombies, although blond girls fiance came pretty close for a while.

Thanks for the scoop. I’m going to have to tape it, what with some other shows demanding more attention these days, and just watch it belatedly.

Since there were two threads on this show, i’ve merged them…

The splintered governments, military, and “string 'em up” mentality are perfectly plausible. The scenes with the trading post were interesting, but as another person has noted, the family dynamics with the secret missions just aren’t all that fascinating.

I got pretty irritated when Homeless Shopkeeper Kid stole the governor.

I mean, just a minute or two earlier, we saw that they have no qualms about stringing up thieves. The creepy shopkeeper already didn’t trust the kid, since he’d looked in the back and saw the beds with handcuffs (I’m still not clear on what they were used for).

When the kid started looking all shifty after the shopkeeper left the governor on the counter, I just KNEW the kid was going to steal it.

The only thing I liked about the episode was seeing Mr. Mayor throw a punch. Pretty spry for an old guy.

Also- correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that many older models of tractor had governors. Surely they could’ve found one, since there are a lot of farms 'round Jericho.

Overall, a lame episode.
