Story here. Fellow long-time Bangkok resident and author of the Jim Morrison bio No Gets Out of Here Alive, an excellent book that was the basis for the Oliver Stone film The Doors.

I never met him, but we very well could have been in the same bar at times, as I know he was fond of an afternoon tipple in the now-defunct Three Roses Bar in Bangkok’s Nana Plaza, a good bar that I found myself in from time to time, back in the day.

I got to party in the motel room that Jim wrote “cars hiss pass my window” or whatever that song was.

Friend of mine from college family owned it. Kind of a dump.

I got his history of rock book and Nik Cohns at the same time when I was a little kid, to learn about rock. I never stopped being interested.
