Hmmm… FCM got windowed, cubicled and putered all in one day. I smell doom! That’s too many things goin’ right in a gummint workplace at one time.
Yay, Puggy’s going suit buying! The really good men’s clothing store is having a suit sale this weekend. I’m staying in my pool, however. I mentioned the suit sale to ACBG. His reply? “Don’t even go there!” So, I’m thinking he might not be up for going to the sale. Maybe on Monday I can say that I’m going to look but he can just hang out at the pool if he wants. I don’t need any suits. Why do they tempt me with a sale? The meanies!
I’ve been torture…err… testing this afternoon and scoring stuff. Tomorrow morning I do it all over again and then I get to write reports. YAY! I’m thrilled.
We could go to the middle of nowhere; Sauk City’s only half an hour northwest of here on US-12. Besides beer, pork, beer, cheese, and beer, it’s the home of the world’s first Culver’s, and the spot where a student pilot flipped and destroyed the Cessna I soloed in.
What!? No fireworks? Hmpf. I’ll give you cheese.
The day after Father’s Day, the Great Gnome Hunt begins. There are three different places that I know of that sell concretia. One of them should come through. (One was the place I got my flamingos (Ed and Cecil) from.)
For the English Grammer Nazis: From which I got my flamingos, was that one place. (See? I know. I just choose not to follow the “rules”.)
Rue, are you sure you don’t want a Garden Gargoyle? Garden Gargoyles are the coolest! Gnomes are a little undependable–sometimes they run off and go on world cruises and stuff. I need a really big yard, 'cause I want the gargoyle, and I also want one of these.
“Schnoodle” is my favorite dog breed. Except for maybe “cockapoo.”
taxi, it figures, you get the good one, and I’m stuck with the leftovers! But seriously, I have a long list of requirements, and I’m not sure there’s any man who would fit all of them. Life is too short to put up with substandard men.
Ashes[sup]2[/sup], I hope your car’s not too sick! Cars are like pets–whenever you have a little extra money in the bank, you know something’s gonna go wrong and you’re going to have to pay a bunch of money for the vet or car repairs.
puggy, the Klingon sounds interesting, and SC isn’t too far away. Hmmmmm…a savage alien. I’m intrigued! Tell me more!
That is what I picked up from the grocery store tonight after work. I was lucky that the grocery store is right next to work, because I left at 6:30, which is late for me. I got to take care of organized chaos today - a disk on my production machine died at 3 am, and we had to get our SysAdmins to re-build. Which shouldn’t be a big deal, except a directory that we needed was lost, and getting it re-built took all day. And the impact dominoes - my day still isn’t over, but at least I am home.
But on the good side, my boss said I could work from home tomorrow. Nobody was going to be at work in my row tomorrow - they are all taking time off. I get to work from home - and he said once everything gets back in place tomorrow, I can take the rest of the day. Give a holla for my boss - wh00t, wh00t!
So, since I am going to be home tomorrow, I am going to multitask and bake some nice whole wheat bread. I usually multi-task at work, but don’t end up with something I like to eat.
Hey all, checking in late. Been a bit stressed with stuff lately. Well more than a bit. A lot more than a bit but a bit less than a lot. Then again maybe it is a lot.
Anyway, I have some beer now and a couple of cookbooks I ordered for my birthday next week have arrived. One is Small Batch Baking so I may have to try out several recipes to figure out which one I want to bake for my birthday on Tuesday. So that might help with the stress but it will be hell on the diet. Then again so is the beer.
I think I need more birthday presents. How do I order some Bumba soap? It sounds so good I want to try some.
Oh, and a garden gargoyle sounds good too. I’d rather have a garden dragon but they are kind of big and tend to squish your petunias and start fires.
My favorite mixed breed dog name is the name you get when you cross a Bulldog with a Shih tzu.
[sub]That’s a Bull ShiT, in case you didn’t know.[/sub]
Bad thing about rabbits, sometimes they get underfoot and it’s really not good to step on them. I just got up out of a chair, and felt something furry and squishy under my foot. I didn’t quite step on her, but it was a close call. I think Billie’s okay, but she’s hiding and she thumps every time I go over there. That makes me very :(. I just bribed her with a few Nibble Rings and a bit of apple, and she seems much happier. Gotta be more careful.
Woohoo - I got to sleep in this morning - a WHOLE EXTRA 75 MINUTES! No big surprise - it’s already light out at 6, and then there’s the full-bladder thing and the dog-with-the-full-bladder thing. So I let her out to water the yard, then I fed both critters and cleaned the cat box. I also gathered all the bills that need to be paid today. So once I’m done posting, I’ll write a few checks.
Today is boat work day. We got 2 new fuel filters delivered yesterday. On the way to the marina, we’ll stop at an auto parts store for some fuel line. Then I’ll spend much of the day flushing out the fresh water system and cleaining the interior. My sweetie will be messing about in the engine room - better he than me. It’s going to be a long, tired day. Ah, the joy of boat-ownership…
On the other hand, I got to be first to post in this thread today. Go me!
I need me a Neptune statue. He’d be the perfect ornament around the pool! I have a birthday coming up in July. Wonder if I can drop a few hints to ol’ you know who. Maybe I’ll just casually show it to him and mention how he’d add to the poolside ambience. Should I give him the sad puppy dog eyes too, or would that be overkill?
I don’t have a garden gnome but I do have a garden rabbit and a garden turtle. They’re sprinklers that sit amongst the shrubbery type stuff in front of my house. I don’t use em as sprinklers cause, well, I have that inground sprinkler system and all now. ACBG’s and my yards are now all manicured. He had to work late yesterday so I didn’t say anything about mowing his yard, just said I’d be over for the night. Imagine his surprise when he got home and saw his yard all purty and that I had even gotten some bbq for dinner. He was really good about showing his appreciation, btw.
It’s Friday! YAY! In a little while I go torture…err… test a couple more folks then I come back here and write reports! I’m all psyched! I’ve had several cups of coffee this morning! I might have od’ed on caffiene!
magic, I’m not sure you’d really want him. Afterall, we divorced due to irreconcilable differences…I’m human and he’s a Klingon. Oh, yeah, and there was that part about his girlfriend.
I think rue has got a “theme” in mind what with wantin’ a garden gnome and already having flamingos and all. Don’t be surprised if he also wants a “granny pants sign” and a little boy peein’ fountain but definitely not a gargoyle. If ya get where I’m going.
wile e, you beat me to that particular crossbreed. You just come on in here and let us destress you, okay. We’ll try our bestesest.
fcm, try to have a little fun as well as work while you’re down at the marina. This is a “holiday” weekend afterall.
swampy, I think a neptune statue would be FAAAAABULOUS!!! Mr. Anachi bought a little pineapple fountain last year. Now I want one of these. I think they are cool.
Schedule has changed yet again. Now it’s suit shopping this afternoon, grocery shopping early morning tomorrow and then over to the closer assisted living place, beach on Sunday and then probably back to the grumpuses on Monday unless I don’t find a suit today.
I hate to be the one to tell you this, but men are all… ::looks around, realizes that I’m not in the male-bashing forum:: …um, nevermind.
Of course I don’t mean you KeithT, sweetie! You’re perfect. It’s all the OTHER men… well, not the Doper guys either! ::Realizes she’s digging herself one BIG hole and runs back to do work!::
Yeah, I wonder why they named them Nibble Rings? :dubious:
swampy, you should get the Neptune statue! It would be perfect next to your pool (I don’t have a pool, so where would I put Neptune, anyway? But I still want one).
puggy, a girlfriend? How rude! Good cookin’ doesn’t make up for that.
Anyone got any more funny dog breeds? The bulldog/Shi-Tzu mix is too funny! And Peek-a-doc-a-poo-poo–who comes up with these things? Labradoodles and Schnorkies, oh my.
I just got told that MY vacation plans are all set, too. I’ll be vacationing in PaintTheHouseVille. I figure those two locations just HAVE to be in close proximity…maybe we can do lunch while we’re there?
Congrats on the new puppy. Puppies are good.
Having Monday off work is good, too. It’s hard to be down about PaintTheHouseVille when I get to sleep in on Monday. It was nice of my paint guy to wait until today to let me in on the urgency of the paint situation…I’ll have to remember to thank him when he gets out of ICU.
Ah - my almost-four-day-weekend has started off nicely. Working from home - but I’m in my robe, so work doesn’t seem as bad. All things seem better when done in a robe.
Yay! Sort of. My car just needed a new battery. Problem is, Pep Boys didn’t have the one I wanted in stock so they gave me a loaner. Yesterday afternoon they called me to say they’d made a mistake in inventory because of their new compter system and it turns out they did have one. So I scooted down there and two hours later they tell me there’s been a mistake and they’d thought the loaner battery was the battery I wanted and so they’d put another battery exactly like the loaner in my car. So now they had to take the extra loaner battery out and put in the first loaner. They wouldn’t just let me keep the one that was in there, oh no. So three hours after I left home I was back where I’d started. It’s almost worth tossing the warranty out the window just to get away from these idjits.
Today should be pretty quiet around here, the seniors all went to Grad Night at Disneyland yesterday and they get the day off. *I * still have to be here, but my workload is halved, so it’s sorta cool but not as neat as working from home or getting cheese fireworks or nekkid mens statues.
Which reminds me; Rue, you need to make your garden gnome. Or get the boys to make you one. I made one for my aunt and it wasn’t that hard. Just rustle you up some clay (check your pockets) take away the non-gnome clay bits, then pop it in your friendly neighborhood kiln, and voi-freakin’-la, gnome! Yes, you may thank me in the form of snickerdoodles.
Goodness sake! I way, way overslept this morning. It is 9:11 and I should have been up a coupe of hours ago. I need some coffee.
My plans for today consist of cleaning because we have company coming this evening for dinner. As it turns out there may be four more people than were originally supposed to come because the hubby invited them too. So, tonight I will have 17 people in my home and 8 of them are kids. Of the kids three are under the age of five, three are under the age of 10, and then my two are the eldest at 12 and 15. Yes, it will be noisy here tonight.
So, I asked the hubby “What should we BBQ?” He said, “BBQ? We’re not going to BBQ.”
I told him to guess again. We’re BBQing and he needs to decide what kind of meat he wants. He never told me, so now I’ll have to think of something. Maybe I’ll do beer brats, or maybe hamburgers. I don’t want to do chicken because we’ve been eating chicken in some form or another since Wednesday.
OOOOOH!!! Ashes[sup]2[/sup] just gave me the most f-aaaaaa-bu-lous idea to suggest to FCM for her next pottery making attempts. GNOMES! She could make Rue a whole garden gnome family! That would be just so jakely jake! Rue could give them names and have tea parties with em and take em on rides… the fun would be endless. Ain’t that just the greatest idea ever!
I switched from coffee to soda! I think that may have been a bad idea! Maybe I need to start drinking water instead!
-swampbear (WOOHOO! Pass me some more Diet Pepsi!)
