Thanks, Wile E!
I’m taking a little break. I just finished washing down the front porch to remove this year’s pollen. Alas, I discovered that the previous owners did a crappy job of painting the concrete - much of the paint is bubbling up. So we’ll have to scrape it, prime, and paint it properly. Someday. Not today.
When I got that done, I brought up the screens for the front storm doors (we have a double door entrance), washed all of them, took the storm windows out, washed off the doors a bit (they need a good painting, too) and installed the screens. Now I can get a lovely cross-flow of air front to back.
My sweetie called - he found a couple of marine batteries on sale at West Marine (no, we’re not related, and they don’t give us a surname discount…) so he’s going to get them and install them. I should be down there helping him. But I’ve got lots of screens and windows to clean - I’ve been wanting to do it for months. I guess the garden will have to wait one more day…
Of course, if you MMPers truly loved me, you’d be over here this very moment helping me. That’s OK. I understand. You claim to have lives - don’t worry about me. Really. I’ll be fine…

Is it working??
Well I am working this weekend so nothing exciting here.
Glad you are giving the poison ivy the slow & painful death treatment - that’ll teach it!! Would that work for a chandelier???
I’d just love to help you FCM, but I’m a little sore. I am sunburned everyplace the sun hit my skin, and that’s with sunscreen. Good grief!
I forgot to take the camera yesterday so there won’t be any pictures of our lake adventures. We did have blast though. The hubby and I both skiied (that just doesn’t look right), first thing yesterday. We both took a turn or two around a nice quiet cove on the lake and then the water started getting a little choppy. By that time there were many more boats on the lake. Then we broke out the two man tube. Oh my goodness, that thing was fun! I really wish I had a camcorder because there were some very funny moments that occurred with that tube.
I have managed to take a shower, read the paper, scour the sales ads, and that’s about it. I’m fixin’ to head down to the store to pick various and sundry items and I think that’s all I’m going to do. We were going to head back out on the boat today, but one set of friends wimped out (long and pathetic story) and the other set of friends didn’t want to go out as early as we did. So, we bagged it for today. That’s okay though, we’re all a little tuckered out. The boy child is still in bed as I type this.
Well, better get moving now.
Another break. The family room windows and screen and the kitchen windows and screen are clean. I also scrubbed the garage door screen - it was kinda dusty from our blown insulation adventure. Next window - master bath. It’s the littlest one, so it should be easy. In fact, I should take all the screens out of our bedroom and bath and scrub them all at once, then let them dry while I’m washing the windows. Good idea!
Next weekend my baby will be here - all this work today will keep me from feeling guilty then. How’s that for a rationalization?
Anybody know the rationalization quote from The Big Chill?? It ends with “Oh yeah? Ever gone a week without a rationalization?” I love that movie.
Well…I think I found a dress. It’s all flowery (OK, it’s black with some large flowers - not too loud, though) and lots girlier than what I usually wear, but it was the only one that looked half-way decent. It actually looks quite nice, I think.
Now I’m trying to find a little jacket to go over it. No luck so far. I may be reduced to shopping in an actual mall, which I generally avoid like the plague.
Also, I’m not sure if I have appropriate shoes.
Really need to mow the lawn, at a minimum (I’ve got lots of annuals to plant, but I don’t know if I’ll get to them today.)

Well, I managed to clean storm windows and screens for the family room, the kitchen, the master bed and bath, as well as the screens for the front doors and the garage door. I did the dishes, vacuumed the common areas, fed the critters, and cleaned the cat box. I also folded the sheets and pillowcases that were sitting on the couch for 5 days…
Sweetie pie’s on his way back from the boat. I’m going to shower and we’re going to Bert’s 50’s diner for something to eat. It was a busy day, but a lot got done. Yay!
More boat work tomorrow.
Wow, you’re certainly industrious today, FCM! (Not that you otherwise aren’t…) I’d have stopped by to help, but the distance might have been impractical and I had so many things to do in my own house… Still do, for that matter.
I spent about 2 hours pulling weeds and cutting down blackberry brambles. The shrub that grows next to them (mock orange, I think - it’s about the only item in my garden that I haven’t actually identified) is blooming profusely and smells real purdy.
Now I’ve showered to remove accumulated allergens and am going for a walk.
