A few years ago I remember reading in The People’s Almanac that an American newspaper decided to do a schtick where they pretended that Jesus Christ was their editor in chief. My fuzzy memory says it was the Cleveland Plain Dealer but my Google searches with “Jesus Christ” and “Plain Dealer” have come to naught. Can anyone help me with this story?
It wasn’t this, was it?
According to my copy of “The People’s Almanac,” it was Dr. Charles M. Sheldon, who took over the Topeka Capital on Sunday, March 18, 1900.
That should be a good start.
First thing, they stone the horoscope columnist.
