I was watching the Pope’s funeral, and CNN showed a picture of Jesus praying or something. His body had no hair except on the head, and it suddenly hit me that every visual depiction of Jesus has him essentially hairless. Is this based on some bibilical reference to him shaving his body or are the artists trying to purify his image?
Most artistic depictions of humans don’t have body hair (pubic hair aside - but I don’t want to know about the Messiah’s pubic region anyhow, thankyouverymuch). I imagine it is simply because it is too tedious a detail to bother with in artistic media.
And it was a tapestry (looked like it, anyways) depicting the Resurrection.
