Jesus Motherfucking Christ on a crutch!!!!

Well, yeah. Didn’t you watch Backdraft? Or read about this?

O.K., you’re kidding right? Please tell me you’re not one of those knee-jerk right-wing reactionaries who only sees in black and white. The most common position of environmentalists is that we need to stop clear-cutting old-growth forests. But apparently you heard that as “we can never use wood again”. You are implying a false dilemna, i.e. we must either clear-cut all the forests, or we can’t ever build houses again. No shades of gray in your world, eh?

It’s kinda like the false dilema implied by the left. That all republicans want to clear cut all trees and exhaust all enviromental resources, much like the Lorax.

Well, to be fair, I want war, want to ruin the environment, and want to destroy civil liberties. But then, I won’t deny being evil, either.

Blowero

Ummm, noooooo…and this is a great example of what I AM saying in this thread. (Not to turn this into a logging thread). Hey, I’m against clear-cutting, too; probably for different reasons than you are, but that’s another story. What I AM against are those people who don’t want ANY tree cutting, for ANY reason, at ANY time, ANYWHERE. It’s an idiotic position.
I lived almost my entire life in western South Dakota. Just before I moved to New Jersey, there was a [i[massive* outbreak of pine-forest beetles around Sturgis. This was NOT old-stand timber and NOT clear-cutting, but when the Forest Service proposed cutting a few hundred trees to stop (or at least try and control) the infestation, the environmentalists went beserk. Apparently they felt that once the Forest Service got their foot in the door, they wouldn’t stop until the Black Hills was denuded of all trees.
And last I heard, there are now over 5,000 acres of pine trees infested, with no end in sight.

Look back over what I posted…did I say anything about clear-cutting?? Hmmmm…??? Nope, not there. What I did say was that we need to have resources to build houses/apartments/condos/whatever for new generations of people. See that???

And from there, YOU accused ME of wanting to clear-cut all forests.

I said no such fucking thing, now did I??? Fucking jackass.

Hmmm. I thought you were against people who accused the Republicans of holding extreme positions that they do not in fact hold.

Me, I’m against people who can’t talk in sentences containing fewer than 50% capital letters and five or six punctuation marks. You’re all over the map, frothy.

And what blowero did say was that discussing how houses need to be made of wood presents a false decision in an environmental debate. Everyone knows we need wood, dipshit – the question is balancing the short-term need for resources against long-term irreparable damage to the environment. Different people believe this balance falls in different places. Some people believe that policies already put in place by the Bush administration go too far over the line, and put short-term profits ahead of irreversible long-term damage.

Calm down, frothy.

The US PATRIOT act, the most evil, anti-civil liberties, anti freedom legislation in recent history, passed the house and senate last year.
Not by a majority of a quorum.
Not by a simple majority.
Not by a 2/3 majority.

It passed with 85% of the house and 98% of the senate’s approval. It passed in a way only “An Act to kiss babies along the campaign trail” legislation would have passed.

Despite all this. I blame the Republicans. Clearly they’re evil. They must have brainwashed the other half of Congress.

Ender, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that it’s possible to blame the Republicans and the Democrats at the same time for some things. Not everyone is so blindly partisan that if they feel one party is wrong about a given issue, then the other party must automatically be right.

If Republicans aren’t evil, why did the blatantly Republican OP use such a blatantly blasphemous subject title?

[smug smilie]

Bless you…what a breath of fresh air! Someone who actually reads!

Hope springs eternal, and is sometimes rewarded.

Well, I admit I went a little bit overboard in the title.

(Actually, my fiance was appalled by my choice of words. I have some serious damage control to do tonight.)

But for the record…I’m a registered Independent.

And Stoid, after re-reading your post (after Captain Amazing’s analysis),I agree with what he says. I apologize for going off the deep end like that.

But I still disagree with what you think the results of Republican policies will be.

…bows out of thread…

You could start here.

Umm… errr… well, hot damn, boy! Come and have a drink with me, then!

Mighty good of you. Thanks.

Giraffe, I thought the whole brainwashing thing would have taken it over the top. Apparently not. I was being a tad sarcastic.
Sorry it wasn’t more apparent.

Well, I got that you were being sarcastic. [sub]I’m not that dumb![/sub] Apparently, I thought you were being sarcastic in a different way than you were.

[Homer]
Eh, what are you gonna do?
[/Homer]

No, I accused you of creating a strawman position that NO trees can EVER be cut down, and then saying how you’re “fucking sick” of people saying this. And then you have the gall to bitch and moan about OTHER people making generalizations about Republicans.

You are such a whiney asshole.
