I’ve not heard of these guys before, but the first song they plasyed is very familiar. Is it in a TV commercial? I’m guessing a Target ad maybe, something.
Any ideas?
The song Jet played first was “Are You Gonna Be My Girl”, which sounds very similar (especially at the beginning) to Iggy Pop’s “Lust For Life”. I know Lust was used in some sort of ad recently.
They’re in the iPod ad where silhouettes of people are dancing and the backgrounds are very colorful.
The song is also part of the soundtrack for EA Sports Madden Football.
Aha, I was wondering what commercial I’d heard that song in.
Now, I’d never heard of Jet before last night, and I didn’t think they were bad, per se, but I did think they were unbelievably bland.
Another Aussie band makes it big! 
I rather liked the one song I heard. Now I’m a bit sick of it as it’s been played on the radio umpity billion times.
Thanks for the answer, AwSnappity. I can almost picture the commercial, all I can remember are just fleeting shadows, and now I’m sure I’ll never see it again. 
I’d agree that “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” is a catchy song, if a bit derivative, but if I heard it “umpity billion times”, I’d get sick of it too. I don’t even remember the second song they played, other than it was slower.
And it saddens to me, Silentgoldfish to find out that Aussie radio is as shitty as US radio.
I don’t like them.
That said, I still thought they sounded a lot better (more “together”, I guess) than most bands that play on SNL.
