Great rant.
Huh, I didn’t know that. I stand corrected. ![]()
Just to add a little more context…
There’s been speculation that there’s a mercenary quality to this as Styles has never been well thought of by Vince McMahon, (who pretty much owns and runs the WWE) who is known to be a Republican himself. What Styles expects gain aside from a little brown nosing is anyone’s guess. (To Vince’s credit, I can’t remember ever hearing him get political in any way and he’s never forbidden his employees from doing so. Jim’s not the only well known liberal in the business.)
Corny, though, has never given a fuck what anyone thinks of him.
Well I’ll be double-dipped… Jim Cornette? Eviscerating the right wing? Who knew? Five stars (frog splash)!
Dayyyum Sam! I’ve never heard of this cat before, but I’d like to buy him a beer.
that was excellent!
I’ll bet he felt a lot better when he was done too…
Irrespective of where you are on the political spectrum, if the guy wants to impress anyone worth impressing, he needs a proofreader. I’m sorry, but Jesus, use spell check at least.
Corny doesn’t really do computers. I suspect Stacy typed that for him, especially since it was posted from her account. Don’t think he even has an account there. There is no doubt that it’s his words. Guy has an unmistakable style.
That was posted using his wife’s user name, so he may not have actually typed it.
ETA: What Oakminster said.
To answer whoever asked, Joey Styles is an annoying little douchebag. I’ll see if I can dig up a good example of his “work”.
Ah. Here we go.
Not gonna work. Right wing commentators have kept their listeners motivated for years by telling them that they’re being (choose one: marginalized, laughed at, dismissed) by the (ivory-tower academics, mainstream media, Hollywood liberals, northeast effete elitists). This was accepted dogma even when they were in power. (It was also accepted dogma that liberals played the victim card.)
Subjecting them to actual scorn will not cause them to change their minds or go away.
I don’t care if they change their deranged minds. It’s theirs to live their miserable lives with. Although sometimes people smarten up (Ariana Huffington, Frank Schaeffer, David Brock) so it can happen.
As far as the ones who stay, as Cornette puts it, fucking morons, I know they won’t go away completely, but they’re the Flat Earthers of today (only more dangerous) and should be treated as such. They need to be mocked at every opportunity, and marginalized whenever possible (let their paranoia come true). Luckily the American people seem to have had their fill of the creeps. It’s mainly the MSM that’s propping them up.
Lovely stuff.
It’s got a good beat and you can dance to it.
I’d pay good money to watch a Cornette-O’Reilly shout-off.
No summary, highlights, quotes, best of? I’m going to have to listen to th ewhole thing?
The whole thing is a Best Of. But, here you go. Transcript. Post 33.
It’s a rant directed at one person, a former WWF announcer named Joey Styles, but he is just a stand-in for all the right-wingers.
Some favorite bits:
“The Republicans drove the country into a ditch, they’re complaining about the cost of the tow truck.”
“The Republicans scream about the loss of all of these freedoms and liberties and constitutional rights after 8 years of an Administration that subverted and circumvented, outright ignored more of the Constitution than any other in history.”
“But maybe Joey Styles likes the idea that his previous Administration responded to the worst attack on the US ever - worse than the bombing of Pearl Harbor for fuck’s sake - by going to war with the wrong country, never getting close to catching and bombing the shit out of the guy that really did it and spending almost as much money to do that over the past 8 years as Obama wants to spend to save the whole fricking country’s economy!”
“And what’s more un-American than publicly hoping the President of the United States fails? That’s like hoping the pilot of your airplane fails because you don’t like his opinion on global warming. We’re all in this together you fucking morons! You hope he fails? If he fails we’re fucked! Jesus!”
The whole thing is subtitled, so you can have the sound off and read along. G’wan, you know you want to.
I think we’ve just seen the future of right-wing talk radio.
Pay-Per-View, Texas Death Cage rules, and O’Reilly doesn’t get to cut anybody’s microphone off. He just has to sit there and take it.
I certainly didn’t. I grew up watching JCP and WCW, and used to be heavily involved in the smark community so I’m pretty familiar with his gimmick, and know it’s just his personality with the sound turned up just a notch, but I had no idea that he was a progressive. Hell, I even opened this thread expecting it to be some other Jim Cornette, or for Equipoise to have gotten her facts wrong somehow.
I’m totally surprised, and will definitely have to watch this when I get home tonight.
“The Republicans have driven us into a ditch, and are complaining about the cost of the tow truck!”
lol.
For some reason, way back when I watched wrestling as a kid, I always liked Jim Cornette but didn’t know why. Now I know. Great rant by a master
