Eh, it was OK as far as anti-conservative vitriol went, but when he started with the racist “Arabs live in caves” isolationist bullshit I shut it off. Just 'cos he (rightfully) thinks Bush and the conservatives who supported him are fuckups doesn’t let him off the hook for everything.
Yeah, seriously. You guys want a left-wing Michael Savage?
I think Justin Raimondo is making a play really hard.
It’s only fair. Some people respond only to screaming. And some people are about the entertainment first and then only later do they cotton on to the ideas. You know the type–the kind of person who decides the winner of a debate by decibel level.
It’s not like Savage is going away any time soon (rats!) so why not compete for all the people you can on all levels?
And, Og help me, I can’t find anything in that rant nearly as offensive as:
Frankly, I’ve got to agree with this. I only listened to the first half, but IME it got an A for enthusiasm and a C minus for content.
It makes me wonder how many rednecks were shouting, “A-Men”, at the dude smoking pot on his toilet and ranting about the Wall Street bailouts. This is the same sort of viral meme as that one.
Because I want to be better than fair. Because I believe in raising the level of political discourse, rather than stooping to Michael Savage’s level. Because politics for me is not about winning adherents to “my side” but about understanding the truth.
The wrestler guy has a lot in common with the fellow on that trading floor who was ranting about the bailout. (can anyone help me out here with a link?) If you allow this wrestler guy and Maureen Dowd, then you have to allow Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage. I thought this would be obvious. All of this is crap.
You know, the hard way can work. Look at the rhetoric of Sarah Palin vs that of Barack Obama. Who was taken more seriously by the public?
Now I may be wrong, but I would think that one thing even many conservatives can agree is good about Obama is that he seems to want to discuss the issues calmly and rationally. He really does listen. Heck, the whole reason Joe the Plumber was able to prostitute himself is because Obama answered his question honestly. Why do people in this thread seem to want to forego civility?
It’s the only reason I even post on this stupid message board…
Jim Cornette was awesome and I have seen him before on WCW and TNA. I have seen Joey Styles on ECW but he was lame part of ECW. I mean that RVD and Sabu made ECW what it was and Styles just got lucky. I wish AJ Styles of TNA would beat up on Joey Styles.
Just a quick bump to give a link to, ha, “Jim Cornette’s Rant” MySpace page, if anyone’s interested.
What a swell guy.
I heard about that. I haven’t watched it yet. That happened, what, 15 years ago? I still like his Styles rant.
I knew he was going to fail. He’d been my governor.
Yeah, we get it
Still not impressed with the rant.
I realize this is just a version of “me too”, but this absolutely shocks me. Most old-school wrestlers I know of have swung heavily right-wing after completely screwing up their lives (see Ric Flair, Superstar Billy Graham, Hulk Hogan, the Ultimate Warrior), so it’s very surprising to hear this from a guy I never thought of as particularly enlightened. He always was the best guy in the business on the stick, though, so perhaps this shouldn’t be so odd to hear.
Hogan voted for Obama, incidentally.
You’re kiddin?
Huh. He was a huge Reagan guy back in the day.
Smarter than I.
What exactly is it that you “get”?
That’s fine, I don’t care. I still am.
Oh, Jim Cornette’s Rant now has a Facebook Group too.
Has a funnier gonzo line ever been written than:
“Does Sarah Palin’s uncanny ability to be successfully inseminated qualify her to be the most powerful person in the world?”
No, really!
