Jim Morrison Is God - A Love Her Madly MMP

Hi, everybody!!!

Good going, drae!

Get better, fcm!

Get the second one, rosie!

Get away from the windows bear!

Bladder be gone, welby! (I’ve been trying to get Mr. Anachi to have his tested for years. What were your symptoms?)

Cool beans, ellen. I love her books.

Hope I didn’t forget anybody. I’m off to take my team leader to birfday lunch. More later.

Tupug

Hi, all. I was up till about 20 minutes before Papa Tigs got up to go to work (in my defense, he gets up at an insanely early hour, even makes FCM look like a slugabed even when she’s not sick), so I just got up at about noon. I was awake earlier and thought about getting up, but decided, what the heck, I didn’t need to.

So now I’m caffeinating and trying to decide if I actually want to do anything today. Thus far the vote is resoundingly for “Sit my ass down on the couch and watch last night’s Lost,” which definitely sounds better than housework or paying work or, in fact, anything more strenuous than surving the net. But it’s too early (relatively speaking) to decide.

Good luck with the job, Drae! Unexciting still pays the rent, and it’s always better to look for a job while you’re employed if it turns out to be something you don’t want to stay in too long.

And I’m glad to hear Rosie’s hanging in there. I don’t blame her for wanting to put the other knee off, though, even if she does have morphine to get her through!

I’m not sure I’ve ever had a nanaimo bar. Must get one! Hmm, I wonder where I can find one around here…

I think I’m over the worst of it. My nose is still stuffed, but I don’t feel as ick as I did. I should be able to go to class tonight, and back to the stoopit office tomorrow. I may actually get out of my robe and put real clothes on! What a concept!! Maybe I’ll even dust something…

No, wait, no sense getting silly here. :stuck_out_tongue:

I like that, it gives me ideas for the near future…

Eh, kind of. One of those ‘bogged down with other people’s details’ days.

Remember a while back there was one of those “show me your blog” threads? Well, I don’t know about everyone else, but I checked a lot of them out, and saved a bunch of bookmarks in my “Dopers Blogs” folder and periodically go through and eavesdrop on people.

I must say, I have blog-envy for Li-Li , as often as she posts stuff there. I feel like I’m there with her in her living room going through her day with her.

Does that make me a stalker? 'Cuz I’m probably up for some stalking, I know I was Taters official stalker, but I think diversity is the spice of life.

Besides, it’s not just our Li-Li , there are several other Dopers in that folder, and since the Kid shamed into MySpacing, I’ve added some friends from here to that too.

I’ve discovered that we’re all basically boring as hell.

Two guys at work are retiring this week, and we had a big ol’ catered luncheon from Publix. Good golly, I ate so much that I wanna take a nap at my desk! I seriously doubt I’ll be eating tonight, though, which might balance it out a tiny bit. But man, three hours and twenty minutes until I can go home and take a nap. ::collapses::

Yards are all mowed. It’s cloudy out, now if it’ll just rain. That’d be jake if it’d rain since I mowed. The smell of rain and fresh mown grass is one of life’s little pleasures. Ok, the smell of rain and fresh mown grass whilst sippin’ an ice cold beerverage is one of life’s little pleasures.

When I went to take a shower, I discovered I had a bar of Bumba soap! Oatmeal, milk and honey to be exact. Now I smell all good. Throw in a handful of raisins and some cinnamon and I could be breakfast.

welby I say you, Bobbio, MBG and me pay the daddy to be a little visit. We wouldn’t need a baseball bat if ya know what I mean. Oh and sorry about the gall bladder. Definitely take tomorrow off. A little suggestion to make it more real, grab yer side and moan loudly a few times this afternoon. Then say, “Oh it’s nuttin’, just a little gall bladder attack. Doc says I really should have it removed.” Then when you call in sick tomorrow, it’ll be jake cause everybody knows how you’re sufferin’ right now.

FCM glad you’re feelin’ better. Shame on FCD for not insuring that there was medicinal ice cream in the house. Do we need to come teach him a lesson?

Yay for BioRosie! Maybe waiting a bit to get the other one done is a good idea. That’ll give ya time to get used to bein’ all bionic.

Drae appropriate and inappropriate appendages crossed about the job. Like BioTigs (btw, I vote for bein’ a slug today) says, it’s better to be employed and job huntin’ for sump’n better. I’m willing to take a job I may not be all thrilled about for a while 'til I find better. Wouldn’t be the first time.

Ellen, sorry about all the troubles this week. I recommend medicinal margaritas.

Happy birthday to Puggy’s team leader. I’d sing but I don’t know team leader that well.

Well, I didn’t get the job. It was between me and one other person, who apparently lives closer. Ah, well. Such is life. Roomie’s disability still hasn’t come through, and yesterday we began selling our possessions. Luckily I had the $7.50 to resubscribe.

Hah HAH!! We know it’s just a plot to monopolize the gall bladder surgury market. We’re on to you now. . .

I’m seeing spots. Or more accurately, my mother’s doctor is seeing spots. On her mammogram. Again.

She’s going in today for a needle biopsy to see if it’s nothing, or if cancer is taking up residence in her remaining breast. The other one was removed entirely nearly 20 years ago. Hopefully it’s just dust on the x-ray.

gotti cool kid vibes goin’ out to mom. I’ll keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

I had a nap. I feel all rested. And sore. See, this morning, I hauled a huuuuuuuge oak tree limb out to the alley behind a friend’s house. It fell when we had a big storm a couple weeks ago and he, of course, never bothered to do anything with it. I should not have done this by myself. My back is tellin’ me this. Perhaps this gin and tonic I’m sippin’ on will provide medicinal relief.

Burgers and french fries for supper tonight. I loves me a good grilled burger! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM…

swampy, sheesh, get your back into the hot tub. Don’t you know nothing?? You can have a medicinal beverage, too. Sheesh!

Most recently, pain in my right side near and under the ribs, fatigue, indigestion, and the sweats. Everything but the pain was ongoing for a couple of years, and my doctor decided that it was probably acid reflux. If he’s got reflux or frequent indigestion, it probably wouldn’t hurt to be checked out.

See? This is why I come to you for advice. You’re brilliant. You might even be smarter than FCM

Then again, anyone that actually has to recommend hot tubs and medicinal beverages to you probably has you beat by an IQ point or three.

My word. You read my blog?  That makes at least ten people! (Eight of whom I see at least once a week). The fact that I post a lot on it is a sign that I am primarily a housewife, who doesn’t like housework.

I went downtown, and bought ten yards of fabric. Oops. It was $1.50/yard! It’s pretty! I’m not safe in fabric stores.

Just had a meeting with thesis advisor. She seemed pretty upbeat about my project. I have plenty of material, I suppose - what’s ahead is mostly endless revision and organization. Yay.

In the course of 24 hours I’ve cut my thumb and spilled hot coffee on the same hand. :smack: At this rate it’ll be a miracle if I make it through the day with the limb still attached.

Hugs and kisses to all - must dash off to a seminar.

Where IS Bumba?

Imma having an mbg day, too. I’m pooped.

li-li, please link your blog. I would love to read it.

I can go home in a few minutes and have me some nerve tonic. Thank the Lord.

I am home, very tired, and not nekkid.

welby, take a sick day and go drink plenty of liquid(try beer).

Drae, if I ever show up at your place, Winchester has to stay in his room, in case he gets any ideas.

Glad you’re feeling better, FCM

Haze, just gnaw the thing off.

Prayers are being said for your mon, gotti.

FCM and welby the hot tub has been drained and closed. I do that when it gets warm. Hot tub is for when it’s cold. I can, however, soak in my whirlpool bath tub which I shall in a bit whilst sippin’ on another gin and tonic. Once I start with liquor, I stick with it. No mixin’ of beer and liquor here. That is a bad thing. So, see, welby, my advice is still good.

Burgers and fries were good. ACBG has gone home cause he has a buncha paperwork to do tonight, poor thing. However, he is takin’ off early tomorrow and he shall be mine, all mine! Tbone steaks, salad and baked N.O.T. are on the menu for tomorrow. Dessert shall be… well, let’s just say, let your imaginations go wild.

Drae I’m sorry about the job. That just means there’s another even better one waitin’ for ya. Oh, and yay on reuppin’ for another year. It just wouldn’t be the same around here without ya.

If I have another couple gin and tonics I might be able to punk drost on a par with Haze

Can’t wait to get home and take a medicinal beverage or two. Or three.

Between Mom’s likely tumor* and yet another fuck-up by the mortgage people**, plus knowing that the mortgage takes its first “adjustment” in July, my neck and back are tensed up in more knots than a 7-year old’s shoelaces.

  • She’s already had one full mastectomy, and over the generations, cancer is what takes us out. Nobody in my family’s known history has had a heart attack or stroke, or lived past 75. It’s probably only by the miracle of modern medicine that she’s gotten to be 72.

** If there’s a picture of a stagecoach on the envelope your mortgage statement comes in, you have my sympathies. I can never get the same answer twice and I work for the company, so I can look up the names of managers and even find departmental websites listing the procedures they fail to follow. People on the outside don’t stand a chance.

Silly thing of the day - DH is being sued by a tenant. One of the more lucid charges was “thief,” and naturally, the whole claim was hand-printed in all caps. Paraphrasing (because of iffy memory, and because it is an active lawsuit) the charges were something like ROBB STEALE NEGLET AND THIEF. <DH> IS BAD MAN. <DH> STEELE SECURTY DEPOSIT.

Umm… How would a tenant know if their security deposit had been stolen unless they had moved out and the deposit was not returned? This nut has not moved, so of course their security deposit is sitting in the escrow account with all of the other tenants’ deposits, and someone from HUD told them that their deposit has not been stolen.

The tenant went on for several pages in that vein. I suspect he will not get very far because to any reasonable person, the charges are absurd, the premise is pretty much impossible and the tenant is a known “vexatious litigant” and has already been barred from that county’s small claims and civil courts for filing numerous frivolous suits, so this thing’s been taken straight to Superior Court.

How many frivolous suits does a person have to file to get actually barred from filing more??

Good vibes and so forth sent out…

The Nephew is all sewn up. The surgery went well; he kept asking for food before but it had to be on an empty stomach; after, all he wanted was water. At some point he was in pain, they gave him half a dose of the smallest paracetamol sachets you can get and it must have worked, cos I’m told he went to sleep like he had catching up to do.

They’re going to keep him in for about a week because, well, a kid that size isn’t just more delicate than someone bigger but also worse at explaining where it hurts. He was the only admission today: May 1st is Labor Day in most of the world (May 2nd is also a holiday in Madrid) and most people avoid using vacation time for doctor stuff, since in Spain you don’t need to. So if you’re OK with seeing a specialist over Easter or Christmas the waiting lists suddenly vanish (there’s no waiting lists for the GPs).

Hi people!

I’ve been a busy little bee. Did you ever notice how much harder it is to read the MMP and post and stuff when you’re not goofing off at work?

I took Dad for his cataract surgery yesterday, and his followup appointment today. He’s doing great! Except for being miserable last night with itchy scratchy graininess in his eye. It’s much better tonight. I have been giving him his eyedrops, and I set up a schedule for him. Stoopit drops - 4/day for one for a week, then stop. 6/day of another one until Sunday, then 4/day for a week, then 3/day, then 2/day, then once a day…Whew!

He’s 83, and can’t get all that straight. It was confusing for me, and I supposedly have all my marbles. (Shaddup, you! ;)) So does he, I’m just kidding.

We took him to dinner on his birthday, at the restaurant where my son works. Really good Chinese “bistro” food. We have finally eaten up all the leftovers today.

We have been adopted by a little dog from down the street. He comes over to visit with Lucy. They are so funny together. He’s a little poodle mix. We call him Pepe, or Fluffy, or Pancho. I don’t know what his name is. He loves to wrestle with big 'ol Lucy! Blaze just barks at them. He loves to crawl up in my lap and onto my boobs. What a weirdo. I toss him out periodically, but every time I open the door, there he is. No collar, and I’m not positive which house is his.

You gotta try this recipe I made last night. Chicken Quesadillas with sundried tomatoes and wild mushrooms. Super tasty! Leftover chicken heated with broth or water and taco seasoning. I used shiitake mushrooms and bay bellas, sliced up, and teensy diced up sundried tomatoes. And 4 cheese Mexican blend shredded cheese.

Tonight is sauteed chicken livers, spinach and parsley buttered noodles. That’s one of Dad’s faves, and he needs some comfort food, to go with his Stoli.
