Jim Morrison Is God - A Love Her Madly MMP

Hi, I’m here but I’m outta here for a wee bit, so I’ll read the whole thread later. Great OP! If I didn’t have so much to do, I’d keep my butt in this chair. But I’ll be back. Really…

<and off she goes to the dump…>

Wow, what an exciting life FCM lives. A constant round of painting, spackling, installing, dumping <snerk>, etc. Be still my beating heart.

I’m having a pleasant enough day. Finished up the first batch of work, due today, a couple hours ago. Went outside with the dogs and, after clearing up several pounds of dog poo, threw the kong for Isaac till he quit for the fourth or fifth time. Now I’m back inside having a snack and contemplating working on the next batch of work (due tomorrow). Presumably that means I should do something about it, but I’m enjoying my iPod too much. There’s something about sitting in a lovely warm breeze listening to good music that is somehow not conductive to working, y’know?

FCM is goin’ dumpster divin’! :stuck_out_tongue: Maybe you can find some carpet for ems.

Bobbio yikes about the gazebo! That’s the thing that always worried me about those tent thingys. We do get some mighty strong winds down this ways.

Hi Kids!I haven’t been around much, but I try to keep up whenever possible. Sometimes I just can’t bring myself to think hard enough to type.

Jahdra, great MMP. You could easily be my neice. Sis was not much of a Mom. Baby girl did ok after riding the foster care train for many years. Plus, we’re all allergic to eucalyptus.

Rosie, you’re going to do wonderfully, so put your head down and forge on!

But it is work related…L&I… Hubby has to do hydrants and valves at work yesterday. He’s transfering to another site, and yesterday was his last at Station 2. The team suddenly realized he wouldn’t be there to do all the EMS stuff. He’s the only one that really likes it. They are going to miss him. Too bad they didn’t think of that before they treated him so unkindly.

Hazel, you reminded my of something that happened to my grandmother years ago. My uncle was in Korea during the war. He would sent her odd gifts whose uses were obscure, at best. One thing she decided was a cigarette holder, only it wasn’t straight, it took a 90° turn at the end. She used it for months, until he came home and told her it was an opium pipe.
Since I was only 9, I never found out why he had an opium pipe…

I’m kind of bored waiting to go to work. Something’s wrong with me.

The solution is stupid flash games!

Pffft - I don’t have to dive for carpet - I’ve got a hunk of gold that’ll be coming out of the master bedroom and a hunk of green to be removed from the little guest room. Soon, I hope. We need to get some quotes for carpet right quick. That’s the only job we won’t attempt ourselves.

I was able to dump and recycle everything except the cardboard - they had a full load and no place for me to put it, so it’s still in the van till next time. No big. I’ve got jeans in the washer, and I’m waiting for FCD to get home so we can do the molding then move our furniture back into the bedroom at long last!! There are a few other items on my to-do list - we’ll see how many will get scratched off tonight. Oh, and the new shower works real good!

I have a new favorite saying from a guy at work: “Set phasers on Friday”

Great OP, Jah. Memory’s a funny thing.

Today seems to be Back To Work day for the relatively-new Mommies here. There are two women who returned from maternity leave today, which means there’s a lot of Welcome Back food. ::burp::

My parents are driving me slightly nuts. They haven’t been here since I moved here last May. Mom hates to fly so it’s really hard to get them to come out. (Although they didn’t visit me very often when I lived ~4 1/2 hours from them in MA… it was too far. Even though I lived 1/2 an hour from Mom’s parents. It’s somewhat of an irritant that they won’t make the effort to visit me - their only child! - if I live more than an hour away.) Anyway, they were thinking of coming in May. Then that wasn’t good timing… how’s June or Sept. (Not July or August 'cause it’s too hot. And not Nov. - March because the weather might be bad. GRRRRR!) OK so June might work. Except that today I get an email that they’re going to be in Chicago in May so they might as well come here after they stop there. Oh and what’s the best way (flight-wise) to do that? Well… yeah a multi-city is doable but kinda a PITA. Especially since parents don’t live near a major airport. So now I’m trying to convince them that it’s worth it to drive to Dulles (~2 1/2 hours) - which Mom will hate - in order to have 3 direct flights and pay ~$250/person instead of going from their local airport and paying ~$400 and having 1 direct flight and 2 flights with stops. We’ll see if that goes over at all. Ugh.

That depends. Are you a single male with an American citizenship?

Tupug, Scottish Darling tends to call me “my dove.” Sometimes when she’s in a mood she calls me a “shameless hussy.” (Which I am, mostly.) She’s very British.

picunurse, that’s hilarious! I wouldn’t have minded an opium pipe for my birthday. Hee.

Hey, A friend of the Wife lives in your neighborhood, and just got dumped by his girlfriend. Seems her husband thought it would be a good idea for them to break up… :dubious:

He’s kinda old for a Hot Young Thing like you, but he’s single and makes pretty decent money, and lemme tell ya haze, you’re a damn sight easier on the eyes than what just left him all alone, so if you’re [del]desperate[/del] lonely one day, I can hook you up!

Male? Check.

American citizen? Check.

Knows enough Korean to say ‘Thank you’, and to politely ask you to kick me in the head? Check.

Single? That can be arranged…

Yep and Haze can move to Mayberry and get a job at the diner or as the manicurist at Floyd’s barbershop. :stuck_out_tongue:

Bobbio you are turnin’ into such a dirty old man these days.

ETA: Yay! First post on page two!

Or I could work at a dry cleaners. :stuck_out_tongue:

MBG, I am always [del]desperate[/del] open to new prospects. Coincidentally, your wife’s friend’s situation sounds eerily similar to my own recent one.

Swampy, Luke Gill was my major advisor and a good friend. He showed up for my end-of-internship conference with the Director of the Mental Health Clinic wearing a ski sweater, jeans and bright YELLOW tennis shoes. Did he have the barber chair in his office when you were there?

Well, we did Red Robin for lunch and I was not impressed. There wasn’t much guacamole on the burger and $14 (including tip) seems a bit pricey to me for a burger, fries and a coke. It just wasn’t that good. One of my buddies and I went to check out the new PetCo afterwards because I needed gushy fud for Gwen, and I got to play with a ferret! Squeeeeeeee! They were remarkably well socialized, too - very socialized to people and a minimum of nipping.

Litter boxes are cleaned and trash is at the curb. I still need to clean and refill the water fountain for the fuzzies but I am taking a back break. I made it through the first lynching in Mafia so we’ll see if the scum get me “tonight”. If you haven’t checked out the “answer the poster above with song lyrics” you ought to do so…it reads like a really bad novel.

Here’s hoping Rosie is having a relatively painless recovery!

Dinner is eaten(blackened chicken, rice, salad). I got Maggie’s drugs, and picked up a hockey jersey at the arena.

Haze, I’m single, and I don’t live in the sticks.

taxi, my parents keep moving farther away from me. :dubious:

SCL, I need to clean the litter box, too.

CanineSlave, did I tell you I got Connor’s jersey? I’ll post a picture if I can ever remember to take one.

I went with my buddy, who is also a player host, to mail the scrapbook she made but didn’t have quite finished at the end of the season. It cost $40 to mail it to Canada! I’m glad I got Connor’s finished before he left!

Cool!

Well, the best laid plans… Instead of doing molding, we went to look at carpet. Rough estimate from the first place - somewhere around $3K for 3 bedrooms - methinks they’re a bit too rich for our budget, but we’re going to another place on Weds. And we’ll look at Lowe’s again.

Can someone explain to me why a carpet store would price their carpet without including pad and installation? Yeah, I know there are different grades of pad, but they could pick one in the middle and label as such. And does anyone buy roomsful of carpet without getting it installed?? And when did we go from pricing at a square yard to a square foot? Sneaky…

As I said earlier - set phasers to Friday!!! PLEASE!!!

Snakes I do recall the barber chair. How innerestin’. This is kinda like Jah’s Tarjay flashback! Except nobody’s a security guard. And it’s college not Tarjay. And I was not a teenaged girl. Except for that, it’s like I’m in Jah’s head!

Target entrance fee was a mere $7 today. That’s because I went to CostPlus first! I also went to PetSmart for crunchy cat food. They have a Maine Coon cat rescue in the store and they had the most adorable little girl (a mere 9 lbs 8 oz) with markings that look almost like a Turkish Van, except in black and white. I also met Marge, a black English lab. She was the sweetest thing. I wanna puppy! Actually, I wanted to take half the store home with me: the cute rat that kept peering out at me, the cockatiels and lovebirds, and the fuzzy hamsters. No ferrets, those are illegal in California, although they do have an entire aisle devoted to ferret stuff. Apparently, there are quite a lot of un-ferrets here.

When I got home with my soda pop, I discovered that it’s been a while since I’ve used ice. A long while. It took 2 trays to fill up a glass. I tried Hank’s Gourmet Root Beer (you got a sideline going, Haze? ) It’s ok, but I like A&W better.

Swampy, get out of my head!

FCM, people who price carpet are sneaky. They want to advertise low prices to get you in the store, where hopefully you will see something you can’t live without.

When you get ready to hire someone to put the carpet in, make sure you hire professionals - as in get references and call the references. We had a horror story in our old house; my late father in law hired some bozos to put in the carpet and it was awful; it started coming up the first time I tried to vacumn and it was never stretched properly. When we moved out it had waves in it. Carpet stretching is hard but it is necessary if you want the carpet to last and wear evenly. When you call the references make sure the work wasn’t done last week, you need to know how well it has held up under normal wear.

Cat’s water fountain is cleaned and refilled and I am done for the day.
