Way back in the day (pre-CD), I bought a 45 for Jimmy Buffet’s “Come Monday”.
I was surprised to hear this line:
“I got my hiking boots on…”
instead of:
“I got my Hush Puppies on…”
Does anyone know if this version exists on CD or was is just for the re-issue 45 (it was one of those re-issues with a hit on both sides).
I believe I have every CD Jimmy has ever released, and I’ve never heard “hiking boots.” It must be the 45. I’ve never heard him use that line in concert, either, but then I’ve not seen every show.

Here’s the info on the 45:
MCA D-2687 and the B-side was “Saxophones”.
I probably bought in in the early 80’s.
Try asking on the message boards at Church of Buffett, Orthodox . If anybody knows, those Parrotheads will.
:smack:
The 45 I have is of the UK mix of the song. The BBC won’t play a song that mentions a commercial product so Buffet apparently did an alternate version.
I’m having trouble reconciling “hits on both sides” with “Saxophones.”
I misremembered it. I was thinking “Margaraitaville” was the B-side.
That was going to be my guess. You probably know that’s why the single version of the Kinks’ “Lola” replaces “Coca-Cola” with “cherry cola.”
Oh, and ditto for Mott the Hoople’s version of “All the Young Dudes” changing “Marks and Sparks” to “unmarked cars.”
