Jimmy Scott bio on PBS tonight 2/24

Jimmy Scott is arguably the most ignored and most talented jazz balladeer of our time. My wife introduced me to his music, and his rendition of “At Last” quickly became our song, followed closely by “All The Way”.

If a man could be called a ‘torch singer’, then Jimmy Scott would epitomize the genre. The heart and emotion he pours into each performance must leave him exhausted by the end of a concert.

I highly recommend watching this PBS special and giving his music a listen, if you are a fan of jazz or just of good music.

The first 5 times I read past the thread title I thought someone was posting a thread about Scott Baio. oops :smack:

“and I’ll see you in the branches that blow…
In the trees…
Under the sycamore trees.”

From the Twin Peaks-Fire Walk With Me soundtrack (tho actually in the final eps of the show, not the movie)

I think one of us is looking at the wrong month; www.pbs.org says it’ss airing here on March 24, not Feb.

Thanks for the heads-up, though; he’s an astonishing singer and I’ll definitely tape the show.

…Nope, my mistake. It’s supposed to be on right now but isn’t for some reason.
