I know what I like, and I like this a lot: a 50 meter tall bronze statue of Guan Yu.
That is one cool statue. For something so big it’s remarkably fluid looking, like it could start moving at any time.
We need to get him together with The Motherland Calls. A new race of Titans could result…
Damn, those are both cool as hell.
I’m thinking we need something like that down where I-15 enters the Las Vegas Valley, so the tourists from California know they’re almost to town (because the lights can be so hard to see at night…).
This is so true. He seems to only need to glare at anyone to make them quake in their boots. Badass doesn’t even begin to cover it.
I nominate this guy.
For large statues coming to life remember Talos, from Jason and the Argonauts?
Luckily if all the giant statues in the world come to life the largest one of all is still a Buddha statue, at 128 meters tall, not counting the base, it would dwarf Guan Yu and the Motherland Calls.
In fact the top 10 are all various aspects of the Buddha, except for one of the two emperors Yan and Huang. So if they do come to life we probably have to worry more about impressively loud lectures on dharma, than cities being destroyed by rampaging titans
I used to be impressed by this dude, but he’s now outshone.

Looks like the Chinese are learning (from the Europeans) that the Great Classical times are revered for their splendid monuments, and not for any intellectual learning or social advancement or cultural achievement. The more ornate your monuments, the more you will be adored by historians, who will ignore all the rest.
hey, I remember that name from the old KOIE title ‘Romance of the Three Kingdoms’. I seem to recall he was one of Cao Cao’s generals. The game classified him as a braniac, though, not a brawler.
Chuck Norris is jealous.
I’d rather see a giant John Locke, hunched over a notebook, with a quill pen.
It’s a bit of a shame that our history books are all about war and borders, possibly two of the least useful subjects to spend our time looking back on.
It is a nice looking statue though. Better quality than that one in Africa. African Renaissance Monument - Wikipedia
He was one of Liu Beis two brothers. The real Guan Yu was likely illiterate.
Somebody channeled Pai Mei into that!
