Job interview..Yay...Gulp...HELP

In August I finished my post-bacch teaching certification, for secondary social studies. The school I taught at did request that the school district hire me for a position they had open, but the school district lost the request. There were just no jobs last year. Among the unintended results of the No Child Left Behind Act, is that school districts are so strapped for cash, that they can’t hire teachers. …I digress.

Anyway, I subbed this year and have been sending out application packets to everyone in a 50-mile radius with open positions. I have probably sent out 40 or so. I got one interview last spring, and nothing else. Most of the time they don’t even acknowledge they got the packet let alone a thanks, but no thanks.

I just got a call for an interview with a school that would work really well. The interview is Tuesday, so there is no way to loose 40 pounds, or get the psychology certification or, learn to be the basketball coach. I do have a 20-year career in technical theater and an economics certification.

The question is, what do those of you who hire, or those of you have gone through the process suggest?

wevets (sp?) had a post here recently about the same thing - what to do and not do during interviews - that you might look up. Lots of excellent advice there.

Best of luck!!

I saw that one, and alot of the advice was really good, but any profession has its pitfalls. I am kind of looking for some of those
