As you can see by my location I live in North Carolina. I just watched a tV commercial extolling all the good Joe Biden has done for Delaware. Well, that’s all and good, but why the hell is it appearing on TV here? No it wasn’t a cable channel it was a local station.
Just don’t tell me there is another democrat throwing his hat in the ring.
It is possible - IIRC, he was thinking about it a decade or so back, but had a health issue that made it highly unlikely at the time. (Aneurism, if that’s spelled right)
I’d vote for Joe Biden, though. He’s a good thinker. And he shows up at all the parades, and walks them on foot (at least in our town). IMHO, one of the smarter responses immediately after the Twin Towers fell came from him, not reactionary, thoughtful, considered, non-accusatory on the grounds that we had no data.
He’s senior, he’s well known as a senator, he’s been on national news, and he’s a ‘nice family man’.
Rumor (no cite, it’s a rumor, maybe “scuttlebutt” is a more descriptive word) has it that Biden is again considering a run for “national office”. Ths may have been a “test the waters”, “run it up the flagpole”, or “pave the way” type of ad.
As I recall, yes, he was in the race for a presidential nomination a number of years ago, but dropped out in disgrace when it was uncovered that portions of one of his speeches (purportedly written by himself) had been plagiarzed from a speech given/written by Neil Kinnock, then Labor Party candidate for Prime Minister in the UK. Something about his childhood, IIRC.
The thinking appears to be that, given the (seemingly more significant) transgressions of other politicians over the intervening years, the plagiarism thing could now be considered minor, and given the rest of his qualities (record, etc.) and the field of other Democratic candidates, he might do better this time.
Biden has suffered personal tragedy - the death of his first wife early in his political career. He since (long ago) remarried. That sounds like I’m making too little of it. I’m not, I’m just sketchy on the details.
