Joe Millinoaire and Crocodile Dundee

Okay, I must admit that while I should have been doing my lab writeup tonight, I watched Joe Millionaire. I know I probably killed what little cognitive capacity I had, but it’s just a lot of fun to watch trashy TV. My question is, what is the identity of the butler? His name is Paul Hogan, and my friend tells me it’s the same Paul Hogan of Crocodile Dundee fame. This is backed up by IMDB , which I use all the time. I was convinced. Then I saw this and it has cast doubts on my stance. I mean, he looks nothing like Crocodile Dundee, but I can’t be sure. If anyone has a definitive answer, or mockery, I’d appreciate it.

They have the same name and are from the same country but they are most definitely different people. Your friend is having a little bit of fun with you.

How did IMDB screw up? Don’t they have people checking that stuff?

Their data base is obviously fucked up. That’s pretty funny. They usually do things like “John Smith I” and “John Smith II” to prevent that from happening.

Here’s an article on him:

Just in case they try to get you to register to read that site, here’s a summary:
McLean resident Bill Paley, the son of the late, legendary CBS founder William S. Paley, e-mailed us: “Hogan…worked as renovation manager of my house in Nassau, Bahamas (Lyford Cay), just previous to his role as butler. We came to a parting of the ways after it was found that he had drained the entire wine cellar and thrown millionaire-style parties for all his Aussie friends on the island. He obviously landed on his feet.”

Way to go Paul!

The IMDb sorta relies on its readers to see errors and write in the corrections. I’ve written them concerning a few and they have been fixed.

You don’t get anything but satisfaction for doing so.

Lots of their quotes are wrong–I think they just put whatever people send them up on the site without checking.

I read in Sydney Morning Herald that he was a Diplomat or something before he retired and worked professionaly as a butler for some time.
