Last night’s episode was comedy gold. Honestly, what else can they possibly do to keep up the wonderfulness of this show? Even things they don’t intend to happen are hilarious - unless they actually trained a falcon to fly screaming into a wall.
And the elimination ceremony editing job? Classic. Face-falcon-face-face-frog-falcon-face-frog-falcon-frog-falcon-frog-face, all at breakneck speed. I didn’t wet myself, but the dog did (he was all excited because he didn’t know why I was laughing and crying at the same time).
I love animals, I really do, but the sick bastard in me busted a gut when the noble hawk smacked into that back door. The whole interaction between the bird and the host is such a great touch as well, funny funny stuff.
And psycho dancing in the grapes by himself, getting that stupid grin on his face when the bachelorette spun his way, followed by the mope was good stuff. These characters, though I am not in love with them yet like in JS1, are doing a fine job.
I would love nothing more than to see Gerald cross the line into straight homesexuality and see how that plays off with the bachelor/bachelorette (and more importantly, the Schmos).
Truly outstanding programming, and the seemingly spontenaiety makes it that much more enjoyable.
Ingrid is just a gem in every way. Cute, sweet, great personality, sensitive of others, and whipsharp. I’m surprised they didn’t pick up on her curiousness and skepticism during the screening process. Tim is just a lump. Boring, typical, and just not terribly nice.
I’ve not seen the second episode yet, I watched *Queer Eye * instead, but I did see the rerun of the premiere last night and really enjoyed it despite it being the only reality television show I’ve ever watched a full episode of. The lampooning is just so over the top.
And I guess I’m the only one who doesn’t really find Ingrid that attractive. She’s not ugly, really, but I don’t think she’s cute at all. Maybe it’s the day-glo tan but she just does nothing for me.
And Tim does seem to be a little bit of a jerk and quick to jump in to make a joke at someone else’s expense which just makes the schadenfreude all that much more sweet. I hope Ingrid doesn’t blow it for him… I’m having too much fun laughing at him. (not that I’d be any quicker to pick up on that I’m being had… I’m pretty trusting and not very self-aware at times myself, but I doubt I’d be an ass like he’s making himself out to be either.)
I have a feeling they did pick up on her curiousness and skepticism so they could have the “OMG! She’s gonna figure it out!” drama this season. Last season, Matt was so clueless that there was very little of that. Even the actors’ mistakes didn’t really ping his bullshit meter. Ingrid doesn’t need mistakes to pick up on.
After the hypnotism thing, he never calls Bryce by his “real” name, it’s always Cruiser, or Psycho. He may to his face, but he’s just a jerk underneath. Typical frat boy all ‘grown up’. I hope he gets duped all the way through and is mad as hell when it’s all said and done. He also seems to want to be like TJ (the playa) a little too much.
Ingrid is paranoid, but I don’t think she has it figured out. After her conversation with “the bitch” in Ep. 2, she toned down the conspiracy stuff pretty quickly.
I cannot BELIEVE how much I am enjoying this show! Its very well written, they are playing the show as a parody, and making it very amusing - very much in the same vein as JS1, but with a lot more humor. I’ve honestly laughed out loud at almost every bit on the show. The falcon - priceless. The SPCA Tag almost made me go into breathless fits (No falcons were harmed in the filming of this show… Although one came pretty FREAKING close!) The interaction of the actors was great, and seeing each person grow into their characters was wonderful.
I think hiring last year’s “buddy” to Matt as a writer made a huge difference. I can’t wait for the next show!
One of my favorite parts of the show (besides the guys “presenting their wicks” ) was before every commercial break. “Coming up…the most dramatic elimination ceremony ever!” They even did it on last week’s show before they ever had an elimination. The best one was about 3/4 of the way through the second show when they did this one…“Coming up…the most outrageous tease…of the most dramatic elimination ceremony ever!”
The writing is great. I noticed that Brian (aka writer on season 1 and “Matt’s friend”) is a writer on this season, too.
As much as I’m liking watching the writers squirm, and as much as I like Ingrid, I think it’s too late to salvage her.
Tonight’s episode was on last night at 11:05 for some reason, so I caught it then. Cammy makes two more huge blunders. I’m beginning to think acting like a moron isn’t too hard for her.
But what I’m really wondering about is the writers. What are they thinking? They’re giving Cammy, the actor that Ingrid suspects most, some of the most unbelievable stuff to do!
Complaining about being defined her whole life by her breasts, when they are obviously fake?
Having her spill her guts about doing soft-core porn to Ingrid, who she’s had no connection with so far. In front of the cameras, while claiming not to want her family to know. And not asking for advice or support, just telling the story randomly for no reason?
Sigh… at least Tim is still blissfully unaware.
I thought of a plan to salvage things, but they missed their chance last night.
Reveal Cammy to be an actress. Say she wanted to make her big break, so she thought up the plan all by herself to get on a reality show, act like a dumb blonde, and make herself known. Kick her off for misrepresenting herself. Then let all of Ingrid’s suspicions fall on her. All the other stuff can be justified as paranoia, since she was right, there really WAS an actor among them.
But giving Cammy a (chuckle) PN last night ruined that idea.
Previews for next week are interesting. I’m wondering how they’re going to work
Matt
What?? Seriously? I saw it on the on-screen guide at 11:05, but assumed it was a rerun of last Tuesday. Damn it! That’s so weird that they would show the latest episode a day earlier than scheduled.
Thanks for the spoiler tags, as I didn’t expect to come in here knowing they had aired it early.
gonzoron, I competely agree. And that’s exactly what I thought they should have done with Cammy. I think the writers have really screwed up, and have missed a lot of good opportunities. I mean, Ingrid complaints and comments on how canned the pleas were, and they go and have Ambrosia recite “the children are our future”?!? Would it have been that hard to tell the actors, “you know who your characters are, and Ingrid’s on to you. No more canned responses - you have to improvise everything from now on.” Hell, set her up on a date with Tim!
I really was very unimpressed with last night’s episode. And no falcon twist!
I think they had them ham it up because they’re going to eliminate Ingrid. The extra half-hour next week is possibly for the purpose of following her storyline into the production booth. My guess is she returns as one of the actors.
I think that’s probably a pretty valid guess. She’d certainly do a better job than “Cammy”.
Their #1 priority when casting this show should have been improv actors. Because running with a script is just too predictable, especially with subpar actors.
I loved this episode. I thought I was going to wake my husband when I was laughing at the “eat my box” line.
Lib, I agree that they hammed it up for a reason. But I’m wondering what they’ll do about Ingrid. Even if they tell her what’s going on and bring her back as an actor, there’s no point of having Austin and the pearl necklace ceremony, is there?
Depends how creative they are, I suppose. I’m thinking that the reason they separated the ceremonies was that they feared Ingrid saying something in front of Tim. They could go back to combining them and now focus full time on tricking him. Lots of interesting twists are possible, like having Gerald request to move to the women’s side in pursuit of pearl necklaces. That would be especially great given Tim’s newfound acceptance and admiration of him. And if they could have Austin play along, it would be great.
