There’s lots of bands out there that made it “big” but not “big enough” to stay afloat past one big tour. From what I’ve heard over and over in stories like that they essentially have no income and “real work” is below them. I mean, really that guy used to be in that big band! And he has no skills anyway, even if he would work.
So they do just that, end up drunk and dead in some obscure trailer park.

The problem is not Joe himself. There is no shortage of greedy hucksters in the world; and in our market-oriented society, if there are people willing to buy a worthless thing, then attentive opportunists will come along and sell it to them.
No, the problem is that the number of stupid people who desire to consume Joe’s worthless commentary is sufficient to give him a marketable audience. In a good and just world, Joe’s readership would be limited to his immediate social circle, and maybe some guy in New Hampshire who has spent too many years watching for fish by sticking his head down the hole in the floor of the ice shack. But it is not a good and just world, and there are tens of thousands of slack-brained fools who are genuinely interested in what the thumb-headed jamoke has to say, cuz he famous an shit. Ergo, he has an audience that can be sold to advertisers; ergo, he has a job, and will for the foreseeable future.
Joe ain’t the problem. We, collectively, the simple-minded, under-educated American masses, are the problem.
Well, we’re working on that. And actually, its taking less time than I thought. Of course, I’m rather a pessimist, so I love being wrong.

I agree that it can be hard to tell :), so I propose, in a blatant rip-off of Poe’s Law, that we have Joe’s Law:

I never heard of this Pajama thing before. I see from their site they are a far right quasi-news organization. This will give them more media exposure than they ever could have gotten otherwise so it’s already a huge success for them. I’m sure Joe will be stationed far away from any actual danger and from any person who may express an opinion not entirely in line with the right wing version of the story. Therefore it seems the chances of his meeting his doom are disappointingly small.
