I’m happier that Joel is rebooting with a new <strike>victim</strike> host and new robots (he suggested that the old voices could reappear as a cameo and blame it on faulty programming). In his latest post, he likened it to bringing in a new cast on SNL, which makes sense. Younger writers would be free to bring their own taste and references into it, so expect more references to Kardashians and fewer about Jack Benny.
Sadly, I find this a bug, not a feature.
They’ve broken two million! We’ve got movie sign!
I’ve locked in my pledge.
Very cool. Even though I want the original people to be in it, I will give this a shot.
The closest we have now aside from Rifftrax is probably “Best of the Worst”. Anyone else watch that show online? The guys watch 3 crappy movies, discuss them in entertaining ways, and choose which one is the best of the worst. Very entertaining. I highly recommend it.
I believe that was by the one week challenge, too. If it was, that means three downloads for all pledges $35 and over. I’m curious what Joel will pick.
I saw the latest video he made with the new voices and it just sounds…off.
I’ll still watch it, but color me disappointed
What latest video?
Looks like they’ve already passed 2 million, so barring anything weird derailing the whole project, looks like it’ll be happening!
How cool is that? Gotta love Kickstarter.
It’s official: Felicia Day is the new Mad.
Curse you, Nonsuch! I was just coming in to post this. Here’s hoping that the Felicia Day fanboys contribute to the Kickstarter.
I don’t particularly care for the show, but for some reason I feel that it is a thing that should be. So I pitched in some money.
Patton Oswalt is going to be TV’s Son of TV’s Frank. The other mad.
Okay, now that’s enough to bring me in. I always found the show to be hit-or-miss, with the host segments being the most likely to miss. But I’ve never seen Day not be fun and interesting.
Though I have to admit it seemed like she was trying to play one of the older Mads in the Kickstarter video. I hope she pulls back a bit on that.
Ironically, I wish the bots were more similar. For some reason, Crow’s voice bothers me. I liked it better when they changed it more gradually. Tom Servo does sound different, too, but that doesn’t bother me as much. It only bugged me in the beginning.
The new host seems pretty good, too. And Joel’s voice sounds so much older and more sedate now–different, but the same. I hope he shows up in the show at some point.
Patton Oswalt and Felicia Day sealed the deal for me.
I wish Patton was in the theater doing the riffing, actually.
They’re up to nine new episodes. They have slightly less than one million to go for twelve.
Hopefully, the telethon tomorrow night pushes them over the edge.
$725k to go. I’m cautiously optomistic.
$192K to go with 10 hours left.
