Joel Hodgson wants to bring back Mystery Science Theater 3000

When does this fight end? When they run out of tables to flip over?

Those guys are checking the script to see if there is actually a Beast somewhere in this movie.

FWIW, I saw “Hal Briston” on the list of kickstarter supporters at the end of Beast of Hollow Mountain. It looks like they’re doing them alphabetically, spread over all the episodes.

Cool. I’m not on it, but is anyone else from the Dope?

I am! I believe my name went by after Beast of Hollow Mountain.

In other news, I just finished both *Wizards of the Lost Kingdoms *and they are, indeed, quite terrible movies. But I still think Starcrash is the worst of the bunch this season to date (as movies go, not as MST episodes). Side note: I think the kid in WOTLK2 might be the sidekick from the TV show Parker Lewis Can’t Lose. I know I’ve seen him before.

Other thoughts:

[li]I’ve now seen two movies where they had a “spill” that caused portions of the movie to be cut. Anyone know why this is? Did they feel they needed to get the run time down to 90 minutes or is it something else?[/li][li]There have also been a lot of host segment edits that are covered by “bubbles.” I have to say, it’s starting to annoy me just a little. I’ve heard the production was pretty rushed and condensed, but didn’t you have more than one take to use? These edits strike me as amateurish. And yes, I should really just relax, but they didn’t have these on the original show and it’s not like those were high tech or anything.[/li][/ul]

I do not get you.

I am. I believe I am on Starcrash’s credits, in fact.

Alphabetically by first name, which points out that there were a ridiculous number of backers named Adam.

I’ve only seen Reptilicus and Cry Wilderness, yet - watching a couple classic episodes, from Netflix’s ‘season’ of them, in between. (Among other things…I’m not doing a total MST binge.)

I agree with the complaint about the bots’ voices being way too similar. Although I like Jonah better than Joel. Joel’s voice is audio valium to me. (I haven’t seen a Mike episode since they were first airing…I’ll probably come back and make a comparison between him and the new guy when I get to one of his.)

Love Neil Patrick Harris, loved Dr. Horrible. Loved Lemony Snicket. Found this a total misfire.

I found Jerry Seinfeld’s cameo wasted, too.

I’m up to The Beast of Hollow Mountain. My only complaint so far is with Cry Wilderness and Avalanche. I found their lack of Dobie Gillis jokes disturbing.

Watched Cry Wilderness last night.

My son and I were howling laughing. Loved the Interociter reference.

BANG!.. roll credits.

Now there’s a Doper I haven’t seen in a while.

I was surprised in Avalanche how few “Danny” jokes there were, since the same actor was in Time Travelers. He was so annoying in Time Travelers, you think they would be cheering for his death in Avalanche more.

I can’t believe the same actor was in both of those movies.

His name was Steve Franken. He had a long and pretty successful career playing nebbishy guys.

He posted in this thread 2 weeks ago.

The movie snarks may not have been filmed in the order they were ultimately shown. I believe there were no cross-references between Caroline Munro’s two appearances either.

They did refer to him as “Danny from the last movie” at least once in Avalanche, so they were aware of episode ordering. It’s probably more that he was always on-screen with Rock’s drunken mother, who was much funnier to snark on.

I saw two people with my name in the credits, even though I wasn’t part of the Kickstarter. So while I could have made it three, as a tribe we were well represented.

My wife and I are listed in episode four.

That one door doesn’t say “Pizza” anymore so I’m out.

I’m kidding but I think the new one still takes getting used too. Watched the first two and not in love yet. But I like it.

I find it interesting that it is edited with commercial breaks in mind. I guess they have a long term plan to put it back on regular TV?

I just read that Joel H. wanted those breaks because the show is so long, viewers anticipate them. I can easily see them being added if this is sold into syndication or something.
I’m slowly working through them but nobody else in my family is really interested in watching. My son sat down next to me once and said “Is that all they do, sit there and crack jokes at the movie?”
