Did any else see the 60 Minutes segment on John Boehner last night? Man, the waterworks were just too much! In my book, it’s OK to cry if your dog (or child) dies, but to choke up when just talking about kids… that’s too much.
Or talking about himself, which seemed to be the other trigger…
**John Boehner will soon be the new House Weeper.
**
The dude is either too high strung, too strung out, clinically depressed. Time will tell.
I think he’s a shameless Machiavelli who’s learned to cry on command in situations that he feels will allow the viewers to think he’s a strong, virile vessel of testosterone who’s just so overcome in the particular situation that he can’t help himself (newsflash, John - 60 Minutes is not that situation).
I cannot IMAGINE the uproar of right-wing mocking that would occur if this were a Democrat weeping on cue at the drop of a hat.
Dude’s a farce.
dude is third in line. crier in chief?
My wife said “can you imagine what people would say if a woman in his position did this?”
I think I’d like to be able to vomit on command. It seems like that would have all kinds of practical uses- like making a point or expressing derision. Crying is more of a niche stupid pet trick.
That’s what happens when you get self tanner in your eye.
You don’t have to imagine. You can just see what happened to Patricia Schroeder when she got a little weepy when announcing her withdrawal from the 1992 Democratic presidential primary contest. She was mercilessly mocked.
Did his freaky makeup run?
Man between this guy and Glenn Beck, the GOP really is turning into a bunch of crybabies.
I wish. They damn well should express some remorse for what they’ve done to us and will continue doing in the future.
It was being explained away as he had to work hard to put himself through school so he gets weepy when he talks about people in tough situations because it reminds him how tough he had it. Too bad his empathy doesn’t go as far as actually helping the people who have it tough.
Why is OK for the weeper of the house to bawl like a baby, but if Obama did it he would be hounded mercilessly? It is unacceptable for men in politics. Dean said YeeHa and he was killed by the press.
IOKIARDI.
Apparently this board now edits posts in all-caps whether you want it to or not.
What a mess that was! My first thought was: “Wow, he’s either fairly drunk and maudlin, or, kinda unstable and insane”.He has to know that, as the top Republican, in tough times, his behavior is under scrutiny, and he does this? Or, does maudlin and unstable pass as leadership these days?
Ridiculous, and obviously fake. He licks his upper lip when he is prevaricating. He wouldn’t make it two rounds in a poker game.
Boehner, Beck and the like seem to be taking over the Republican party; and they’ve all got the gravitas of Tammy Faye Baker.
Ptuooie.
Roger Ebert recently tweeted: If only Boehner wept as copiously for the poor and the sick as he does when confessing his own greatness.
I have a religo right wing nut job friend who does this when selling insurance products. Our friends think it is hilarious and faked. He doesn’t know we think this. Even our other righty friends are tired of it. It’s apparently a fundy sign of sincerity for men to be weepy these days.
Weeper of the House
I can’t wait until some Democrat uses his/her two minutes to sign Orbison’s “Crying” the first time he does this.
