I know I’ve kind of tipped my hand with the thread title but I’m curious what others think about this guy. I think he comes across incredibly foolish looking and appears to be totally unable to control his emotions. I think a man, or woman, in a position of national power like he is should display exceptional bearing at all times barring the death of a family member or some other personal tragedy etc…
Do you find his uncontrollable emotions to be off putting and/or a display of weakness?
I’ve heard of boohooing and blubbering, but never boobing. I think you might’ve misread or misunderstood something, Cubsfan. As for Boehner- I don’t know how often he really does this compared to his reputation, but yes, when people get excessively emotional at mundane events for no clear reason I do roll my eyes. It’s not a judgment of their supposed inability to control their emotions, it’s a suspicion that they want to be the center of attention.
Honestly, I think it’s cool that a man in a position of power and responsibility can cry in public without it completely torpedoing his career or destroying his reputation. Hopefully, this is a sign that we as a culture are finally moving past all that “boys don’t cry” bullshit.
Can we split the vote? In general, it does not really bother me that Boehner cries or get emotional. Sometimes, however, it just seems inappropriate for the setting.
