The officials of the Cow/Eag game need to keep on eye on things because “this is one of those times when the dish can run away with the spoon”.
Does he use a random word generator for his commentary now?

My favorite John Madden quote came during a Cowboys vs. Redskins game a few years ago:
“When the Cowboys put #65 in at tight end, you know it’s going to be a run or a pass.”
Thank you for ruling out the surprise punt on first down, Captain Obvious.
Yeah, Madden’s commentaries have become a parody of themselves. I think the problem is that he’s kind of like an old rock star trotting out his old hits–he doesn’t care anymore but still has to give the public a semblance of what made him famous. He started out in the early '80s doing legitimately ground breaking stuff, dropping catch phrases and directly criticizing players when the jut-jawed announcer types still dominated. Now that the personality driven announcer has become the norm, he’s not updating his act and it’s becoming tired.
I read this as “the Cow/Egg game,” and thought, “Those Eggs better have one helluva defense or the Cows are gonna stomp 'em flat.”
That is funny. (Your comment I mean.) A tip of the sombrero to you.
When the Cowboys put #65 in at tight end, you know that the dish is either going to run away with the spoon or pass the spoon.
