After seeing a program on that screwed up family, all I can feel is relief for the guy. And sorrow.
He never really achieved anything after he removed “sburg Address” from his name.

No kidding…junkies, AIDS, ultra-hatred for grandpa, kid with one ear, divorce, floozies, the works! And didn’t the one Getty get a seriously wet brain ang go blind? Utterly tragic.

That might have been the father, angelabaca: J. Paul Getty (1892-1976). I see the Trust which runs the museum was set up in the 1950s.
Yes, Angelabaca. It is all part of the same family. The old man donated his home to become a museum. I think A&E had the documentary on their life. You can read a little about them here:

This latest generation is slightly less fucked up than the one before it. Aileen Getty is an alcoholic and drug addict and has AIDS due to poor lifestyle choices, and Balthazar Getty isn’t acting much anymore but I assume he’s still ok. I know he has talked about trying to be different in his family, ie relatively normal.
Their parents’ generation was really wacked, thanks to their folks. Hoo boy, check out the documentary if you can.
