John, you've gotten a bit confused.

Oh John, slight problem with your logic - if you’ll bother to read my postings, you’ll notice that I’ve not actually written an insult yet.

Also, I’m afraid that I don’t know a CD milk. I got here from a link posted in a music forum. If you want to check, it’s in music365.

As for the comments about UK, dare one ask if you’ve ever visited? It’s my understanding (correct me if I’m wrong, please) that 90% of americans have never visited another country, so you’ll excuse me for asking I’m sure. I mean, we can get down to name calling about whose country is best, but I’ve never been into that whole Nazi thing really.

DNFTT

Oh, JOHN…well, that narrows it right down. 9,000+ users on here…you must mean THAT John.

Now Zette’s gotten a bit confused. How about a link to what you’re talking about?

Apologies for that, I hit the new thread button instead of a reply to John Colorado’s comments in the Uncle beer thread.

Apologies, even… how mature and astute.

M C- please read my reply to Biffer Spice in the original thread; I think it explains my reasoning pretty well.
Again, my apologies to you if you don’t actually know CD Milk and have no clue what’s going on; it’s just that given the rash of people suddenly signing up and jumping in on that thread- well, it’s happened here before, so one has to expect that it happens again. As I said, if you start posting to other forums and showing yourself as willing to participate in a manner other than antagonistic, I’ll take back what I’ve said.

As for visiting other countries- I have visited France. It was a miserable trip, worthy of a rant in and of itself, and which has generally left me with the impression that foreign travel is vastly over-rated. As for ‘whose country is the best’, it just seems a central theme to the other thread and the entire CD Milk affair (what with all the hooting over “you Americans aren’t actually free, and besides, you have pissy beer”). I certainly have nothing personal against the UK or Britons (or Scots, or Welsh, etc.); I have something personal against assholes.

I’ve got a feeling this is gonna be one of those threads which gets real big, real fast. Stay tuned folks.

No, this is a thread that’s going to stay really short, because we have learned not to FEED THE TROLL.

I checked the forums at music365.com , I didn’t see any references to this board. The jig is up, troll.

I thought this was like

“john, I’m only Dancing”

Having been to 365, you’ll also notice that there’s no thread older than 4 hours on that forum. Four hours ago, your login system wasn’t accepting new accounts, throwing a MySQL error.

You will also notice that the troll posts are the same, bashing Uncle Beer and all Americans.

“I have visited France. It was a miserable trip, worthy of a rant in and of itself, and which has generally left me with the impression that foreign travel is vastly over-rated.” Do you really mean that?

As compared to, say, trashing France in one statement. Do you view John Corrado as a troll then?

He didn’t bash France, you moron. He said his experience visiting France was a bad one. There’s a huge difference between comments about one’s personal experiences and insulting an entire nation.

Please, don’t try to argue that saying a trip to a country was a miserable experience that “left me with the impression that foreign travel is vastly over-rated.” is not an insult to the country in question. If I were to post a similar comment about the US, you’d be leaping out making troll accusations in a moment.

This is redundant. In real life I’m actually UncleSam.

Not quite as dull as knee-jerk America bashing.

We have already combined all the anti-America sentiments and the anti-UncleBeer sentiments in one convenient easy-to-swallow thread here in the Pit.

If this thread is just going to turn into another “America sucks” thread, I’m going to close it.

Cheers.

“knee-jerk America bashing.” As you may notice(if you read the postings) I’ve not actually made any comment good or bad about America. It was in response to some comments made about the UK, where I asked the originator if he’d ever been there (short answer - no). Anyway, bored of this one, so please close it, thanks.

Or you might miss something.

You are absolutely wrong. Observe.

Posting offensive excrecation about foreign countries is flame bait. People who do so are called trolls, since they are “trolling” the message boards for people who will respond to their logorhea.

You said:

You asked him a question, and he replied. Neither the question nor the response can be considered flame bait. Furthermore, neither JC nor you were breaking the “don’t be a jerk” rule. JC said he had a lousy experience, not that “all French should be euthanized.”

Do you understand the distinction?
