Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and bluesman Johnnie Johnson died this morning.
I got to hear him at a local club several years ago - he was amazing.
Awww, that’s sad. I think I absorbed everything I know about piano fills in blues / rock songs from listening to Johnnie on those Chuck Berry records. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked to “Just do Johnnie Johnson on the fills!” because they know I can.
He’ll be missed.

IIRC, some of the best bits in the “Chuck Berry Hail! Hail! Rock n’ Roll” movie were the ones where Johnnie showed off some of his techniques.
