THAT is a DEMOCRAT!
ETA: Beau woulda wanted him to run. It’d be “Trump who?”
“Trump+stool” isn’t any better.
I live in Illinois, so I can vote for whichever party I want in the primary. I voted Republican this time, just so I could vote against Trump. I held my nose and voted for Crus, only because he was the only candidate still in the race that I thought had any chance of beating Trump in Illinois. Of course my vote ended up not making a difference.
In case there’s any question about who I’ll vote for in the general election, my first gig working the phones for the Hillary Clinton campaign is next week.
Trump is showing all the signs that he’s about to throw gasoline on the dumpster fire yet again. He’s now ignoring his advisers and attacking Bill Clinton. I mean the guy just looks like a pathetic fucking loser now.
Ever see that South Park episode where Eric Cartman talks trash all day long before finally getting his ass kicked by a girl after school? That’s what’s happening now in real life: Trump had his ass handed to him by a girl on Monday night in front of 100 million viewers and he knows it. And he’s been hearing about it all week long, and of all the things he’s been trying to spin, of all the things he has spun successfully, he just hasn’t been able to spin out of this one. There he was, guzzling water, snorting, sniffling, growling, and there was his opponent, laughing at his pathetic ass as he fell into one trap after another. Everyone saw it. Millions saw it. They can’t unsee it. He can’t spin it. And now he’s having a meltdown. And this one is different. This one hurts.
If you haven’t already heard, Alec Baldwin will be SNL’s Trump for the duration of the campaign.
The season premiere is just two days away …
Probably the Pubs can see the writing on the wall. Saying, “If I lose, it’s rigged!”, leads weak minds to think/justify any shenanigans as ‘only fair’ !
By Election Day they could convince themselves it’s righteous to cheat, ‘to save America!’.
Desperate people do desperate things, and if things keep up in this trend, come Election Day, there could indeed be some people feeling they just HAVE to do something!
Get a grip, dude. No one who has the brains to cheat usefully is dumb enough to do it for Trump. These people want jobs next election.
I hope you’re right, now would be the perfect time for the Khan’s to re-appear in the public eye and bait Trump into attacking them again.
Is anybody else worried that Trump has set the bar so low that if he manages to string together a couple of coherent sentences they’ll say he won the next debate? Just me?
(BTW, I’ve been saying all along that the Town Hall format will be his nemesis. He’s not good at actually answering questions. I also have the hope that although his staff is desperately trying to get him to do debate prep he is thinking something like “I won all the primary debates by NOT preparing and then they tried to make me act restrained and I did badly. I’m going to go back to what worked and just be myself and ignore what they try to get me to do.”)
Considering everybody said that before the first debate and now everyone said he lost despite stringing together a few sentences, at this point yeah it’s just you.
But the bar is even lower now. The bar may actually be underground. Almost anything would be an improvement on the first debate.
You know, just because a guy passes a low bar doesn’t mean everyone is going to declare him the winner. They might just say “he didn’t suck so bad this time”.
I understand this argument, but I really dislike it. Seems that for the past several elections that one side (and it does seem to have been the Republicans lately) has tried to set lower expectations for their candidate so that even a competent performance in the debate will be seen as a victory. That should scare the hell out of us; that one side is just accepted to put forward inferior candidates. The presidency is not graded on a curve. It doesn’t become an easier job when there’s a Republican doing it. I want the best person in office, period, not the who measures up to a lower standard.
You aren’t electing the president of the debating club. So no, “managing expectations” by lowballing a candidate’s chances for a debate shouldn’t scare the hell out of you. And it’s not like it was just the Republicans lowballing Trump’s chances. It was a pretty general consensus Clinton would own him on policy discussion and the only question was whether Trump would act like a nut or fluster her.
Except we have seen evidence of a number of people looking for any excuse to grasp at to justify to themselves voting for him.
No, but the President of the US needs to be able to focus for more than 90 minutes if there is urgent cabinet meetings or the situation room. They also need to not get distracted and take the bait if some foreign head of state makes personal remarks about him. Trump failed miserably on both counts, he was visibly exhausted at the end of the debate AND he took the bait every time Clinton dangled it front of him. Just imagine how damaging that could be to foreign policy if he gets in a petty verbal slanging match with another head of state.
Hillary hit a nerve.
Trump tweets this morning about Alicia…

Did Crooked Hillary help disgusting (check out sex tape and past) Alicia M become a U.S. citizen so she could use her in the debate?
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump 3h3 hours ago
Using Alicia M in the debate as a paragon of virtue just shows that Crooked Hillary suffers from BAD JUDGEMENT! Hillary was set up by a con.
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump 3h3 hours ago
Wow, Crooked Hillary was duped and used by my worst Miss U. Hillary floated her as an “angel” without checking her past, which is terrible!*
Way to reach out to women dimwit.
So Trump is now making up allegations of sex tapes (it is made up, right?) for women who criticize him? I’m sure that will go well.
I reject the notion that there weren’t expectations for Trump. He had opportunities in the debate to land some haymakers but failed. I was worried about how he’d hammer her over her Iraq vote, her decision to invade Libya, and I was very worried he’s pound the podium over Bengazi with cameras showing images of Clinton looking down at her notes. That was the nightmare scenario and that’s what his supporters wanted to see, waited on the edge of their seats to see. They wanted an orgasm of rage. It just didn’t happen.
Instead Hillary dragged him into the deep end of the pool quickly and kept his head underwater while he flapped his arms as he tried to swim away from his past statements and business dealings. It was a truly disastrous debate performance. And now that Trump is beginning to realize just how badly he was dominated - not only in the eyes of the media but even in the eyes of those of his own party - he’s going back to what makes him feel good again: lashing out at those he perceives to be weak and easy targets.
That being said, there are two more debates left and there’s a Veep debate which will probably get the media talking about something else for a while. But I fully expect Trump to unleash everything he has on Hillary in the next debate. It will be popcorn and soda time for sure. She’d better be ready.
