VP debates are not known for being the most compelling viewing, but this is surely the most boring one ever scheduled. In the past you sometimes had silly candidates, like Dan Quayle or Sarah Palin, or funny candidates like Joe Biden, or unusual matchups like Dick Cheney versus John Edwards.
But Pence Vs. Kaine is a matchup of two guys who look like non-speaking parts in a movie credited as “Accounting Guy In Blue Shirt.” I’m not saying they aren’t different in policy, but holy moly are they ever boring. I actually forgot Pence’s name at one point and I don’t think I’ve heard a thing about either man the whole campaign.
Though funny enough, if one believes Snopes investigation of it, the reality is that Trump’s current wife has a modelling history as sordid or worse.
Of course the reality is that it would not matter if it was true that there was a real sex tape, or if Machado was some kind of bad person. She is not running for President any more than Trump’s wife is and neither of their past behaviors is at all pertinent. The issue is his past behaviors. Did he call a woman “Miss Piggy” and “Miss Housekeeping” because she had gained weight and was a Latina?
His believing that if he can convince people that his target is somehow “not nice” then they deserve whatever misogynistic and racist reduction of them to objects and stereotypes he vomits at them, is … odd. Oh it will work for those who believe that women should be objectified and who think of Latinas as housekeepers who should keep to their place in our society. But he has that basket of voters already and this won’t motivate them to come out any more. Keeping it going will however help Clinton’s turnout. Keep on tweeting!
You should be paying more attention to Pence. Not only does he think porn is a public health ‘crisis’, that he intends to restrict severely, but he very seriously intends to overturn Roe vs Wade.
So, if Don the Con wins, then gets tossed, ( or more likely walks away in a miff with title, salary, pension in perpetuity?), suddenly Pence is calling all the shots.
Keep in mind, he could end up seating up to four justices on the court!
He might indeed be boring, but you should definitely be paying attention, I think.

Apparently the Machado’s “sordid past” consists of posing topless for Playboy in photos not as risque as the ones Melenia has posed for, and for “supposedly” getting frisky with another cast member on a reality show apparently similar to Big Brother, or The Real World. I say supposedly because it’s a grainy night vision video clip of some tussling going on, and it’s on a FUCKING REALITY TV SHOW, where you are certainly allowed some doubt as to what is scripted and made to draw ratings.
Trump, with his current nude modeling wife, his three marriages (which feature two infidelities that he has admitted to, and likely more), his history of misogyny and discrimination, and his fascination with the sordid and the sensational, is uniquely ill-suited to throw rocks at anyone.
Its the new, improved Trump strategy: remain aloof and dignified, and let tired ol’ Hillary sink beneath all her scandals.
