Compared to the Armageddon candidates on the top of the ticket, yeah, they’re boring. But it’s also entirely possible that viewers may be watching these two to get past the noise of the Trump v Clinton clash of the titans.

Let’s not forget that Kaine will likely do some of the debate* in Spanish*. Yes, I know, but it appears to be his only parlor trick.

I will say, here in San Antonio TX, hispanics respect anglos who speak Spanish. He can do the entire debate in Spanish for all I care.

(FTR-I am actually a big Kaine fan-voted for him here in VA multiple times. Also, did not mean to appear to denigrate the Hispanic vote. From my very unscientific polling (Hispanic coworkers) the Miss Housekeeping thing really hit hard, much worse than the Miss Piggy comments. They really dislike Trump even more than before).
The VP Debate will be about one thing: Trump. Kaine will unleash a pile of invective (using Hilary as an exercise in contrasts) about Pence’s running mate, and Pence will have to continue to spin and spin, defending the indefensible. Of course, Pence’s own positions aren’t without some controversy and that might offer some additional backwards momentum, but Kaine is smart and knows that keeping his opponent on his heels the whole night (while praising the top of his own ticket in his very charming, affable style) will be the most obvious strategy.
As well they should. It says loud and clear to them that to people like Trump, it doesn’t matter how high you rise - you can be Miss freaking Universe, held up as the ideal of femininity - you’ll never be better than “the help” to him.
Tim Kaine is governor of a state I once called home. For half a century I have kept up on poltics there. Mike Pence governs the state next door, and for years I have monitored what an idiot he is. Kaine all the way, and I’m ready for Hillary’s stroke in 2020, confident that the ship of state is in steady hands.
There is some reasonable speculation that Trump’s 3AM tweets were an attempt to distract the media from covering his illegal dealings with Cuba. Potentially that could cost him Florida. Luckily it seems the Cuba story has legs and is getting a fair bit of coverage.
Every time I hear either one of these guys’ names, I have to take a second to remember which is which.

So in order to distract from a story wherein he illegally broke the Cuba embargo (which would cost him Florida votes), he tweets more rude, lying insults about a hispanic woman he insulted years ago (which will cost him Florida votes).
The man truly is thinking 6 steps ahead!
Also, it doesn’t matter, as Hillary will surely bring up the Cuba shenanigans during the next debates, calculated to have him blow his top at the most inopportune time. Hillary had dry ammunition at the end of the last debate, and all Trump did was restock it.
Reasonable to someone who still doesn’t understand Trump, which by now should be almost no one. There is no strategy behind his tweets, he was lashing out because a girl beat him.
