Even if we cant reach the total ourselves, If we can hit $4500 or even $5000 that almost half (or a third) the cost of the server reached. c’mon guys, we can do this.

Well folks, we probably are approaching the “Dead Horse Beating” stage here, so I guess we will have to call it an end at $4150 pledged.
A very good effort, very good indeed. Now hopefully this will help the SD Staff to make a business case for setting up a donation system, or help them decide that we should wait. Whatever the case may be.
I’d like to thank everyone who pledged, and everyone who at least gave moral support to the effort. Especially Mr. beatle, and his support and Magical Auto-bites.
Remember of course that this whole thing was non-binding, as per the OP. If and when an actual system might be set up, I know I will never bring up what people honestly pledged here. And I ask that everyone else do the same. People’s situations and desires change, it’s just plain mean to make them feel down about things they can’t control.

Some things can take on a life of their own. I’m surmising that Una perceived this as a trial balloon and thus weighed anchor today; I am inclined to give it a bit more exposure to our working week contingent (and I think its having run mostly over a four day holiday has limited its exposure).
