"Joke Bands" that are actually musically talented.

I have some music by bands that are parody/goofy but are musically very talented.
For example, The Electric Amish, cover songs with a humorous Amish tilt. They display some talent, along with a sense of humor.

Red Elvises, a group of Eastern European surf guitar rockers. I’ve seen them in concert several times. The bass player plays a funny, oversized bass guitar, but actually produces excellent sound.

I’d love to listen to music from the band Bubba and Ganoush. The album cover would feature Bubba in dirty coveralls and a straw hat, and Gannoush in stereotypic Middle Eastern sorta dress. maybe even a take-off on Captain and Tennille. Their music would be “eclectic”. (I made this one up)

Weird Al Yankovic, duh.

Yours?

Spın̈al Tap

Tenacious D.

The Rutles

Maybe The Monkees?

Leningrad Cowboys.

For ska: Aquabats. Bluegrass slash rock (yeah, it’s a thing) Hayseed Dixie. Hayseed Dixie - Highway to Hell - YouTube

S.O.D.

Seconded : Tenacious D and Spinal Tap

Run C&W.They play soul music…bluegrass style!

Came in here for this. I think they aren’t given a fair shake. Then again, I only have “tribute”. … That should be enough.

The Lonely Island has some good production values. I actually find myself wishing songs like Jack Sparrow and Mama had less comedic dialogue and more lyrics.

Austin Lounge Lizards

Two Live Jews

Jewrhythmics

Wow - no mention of Weird Al yet?

Which made me remember Hayseed Dixie, a bluegrass cover-band.

In the OP, I thought he was too obvious to mention.

Post six.

I was going to mention Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys, but I’m not sure if the Kinkster considers his act a joke…

(and sorry, Troppus…:frowning: being a ska-head I was busy looking up Aquabats. and thanks for that!)

Los Straitjackets a surf guitar band that performs Lucha Libre style (wearing masks.)

Dread Zeppelin

Dethklok.
