Joker question (no spoilers in op)

I have this weird thing where tend to pay attention to the most trivial details in movies: I count stairsteps, check the plants in the background for clues to where it’s shot, and check clocks for continuity/chronology.

So why are all the clocks I noticed in “Joker” set to 11:11?

Because nobody set them to 4:20?

I noticed that too! Ever since the film “Us,” I keep noticing when clocks say 11:11.

I wonder if it’s the Biblical same reference as in that film: “Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.”

Aren’t you supposed to make a wish when you see the time at 11:11 or something silly like that? Plus, I’ve seen lots of clock ads using that time over the years.

I know you said no spoilers, but there are lots of discussions about this online.

The theory is that the entire movie took place in his head. He is an unreliable narrator and things like the clocks all being 11:11 are a sign he is just retelling his version of events to his therapist.

Hmm interesting. The old American Psycho/Adaptation template. I’ll have to watch it again with that in mind
