Jon Stewart returns to The Daily Show! (Not for Politics, see P&E thread)

Fully agree. It was Jon Stewart at his best, with the kind of performance that endeared him to me. It’s almost like he intentionally started off a bit weak with the first show of his return only to surprise and wow us with how terrific he can be once he gets really warmed up!

Americans probably know O’Leary from his appearances on Shark Tank; I’m familiar with him from his appearances on the Canadian equivalent, Dragon’s Den. He was without a doubt the most vicious and scathing of any of the judges who have ever appeared on that show, always the last to be complimentary but the first to hurl insults. The very definition of a pompous jerk.

The one and only time that O’Leary did NOT piss me off was when someone came on Dragon’s Den with a business pitch that was so incredibly bad that the other judges were pretty blunt about flat-out rejecting it. That was one time that O’Leary didn’t say anything because he was so completely convulsed with laughter that he couldn’t speak. I must admit it was rather amusing!

But otherwise he always pissed me off by how arrogantly insulting he was towards hard-working people looking for angel investors.

Oooo Gary Clark Jr. Love him. Have to check that out.

I’ve only ever seen him on Shark Tank where he used to tell those who rejected his offers, “You’re dead to me.” That always seemed unnecessarily rude.

Extra long one this time. 39 minutes.

The AI promoters he showed were saying so many dumb-ass things. Low lying fruit as they say.

Another week without correspondents. A very long interview, which is generally not the strong point of the show. But this was with FTC Head Lina Khan was a really solid and informative one.

I agree. Lina Khan is one smart lady, and I think Stewart ran a very competent interview. Plus he really liked her and the job she was doing and they really hit it off.

Opening was excellent but the interview was not great.

Yeah, Stewart was in top form again. Amanpour is indisputably a great international journalist but I found the subject matter on the Middle East both depressing and (for me) boring because it’s the same old stuff. Frankly I didn’t even watch all of it. Not Amanpour’s fault – she really knows her stuff. I just didn’t need to hear it.
