So I’ve just got through all 3 Layton games, with nearly but not quite 100% completion on all 3. Lovefilm and Amazon’s “more like this” reccomendations don’t show anything that seems very similar. Anybody got any reccomantations for a game with a similar variety of puzzles? i have played 7th guest/1tth hour, and that’s the only thing I can think of.
Maybe 999. This is more of a visual novel with a fair number of “escape the room” puzzles thrown in. I really enjoyed it and I recommend it, but be aware that there is a lot of text/story. I’m talking like an hour’s worth at a couple points. I thought it was great, but if that’s not what you’re looking for then it would probably be incredibly frustrating.
There’s also things like Hotel Dusk and the Ace Attorney series. These are more like adventure games than the puzzles in Layton.
Consider Nelson Tethers: Puzzle Agent by Telltale Games. It has a neat hand-drawn art style, excellent voice acting, and fun puzzles. I think the puzzles aren’t as hard as those in the Layton series (I’ve played the first two and enjoyed them), and the game is shorter, but it’s still very worthwhile.
