Jordan was a correspondent on The Daily Show, and while his segments there were so-so, I really thought his own show was excellent. Just shows how hard it is to get a foot in the door now on TV.
For those who never saw it, it was a satirical comedy show done in the style of one of the opinion shows on FOX.
His final sign-off speech was well-done, so hence the shout out here.
Colbert was parodying Fox when Fox was still trying to appear to have journalistic standards. O’reilly was certainly a blowhard, but he was just reasonable enough that people took him seriously. Parodying that just gets you a bit of inflated ego.
The current crop of right wing newsies is in conspiracy land. There is no parody of that without invoking and then demolishing Poe’s law.
I tried to watch it a few times, but couldn’t really stand it. It wasn’t really all that different from the talking heads on far right shows, and the interviews were beyond awkward. Colbert had a few awkward interviews as his character acted up, but everyone I saw of Klepper’s just made me cringe the whole time.
Supposedly, he is doing a new show coming out this fall. I liked klepper as a correspondent on the daily show, so if he is able to tone it back a bit, maybe he won’t be quite as off putting.
