OK. heres the thing. i love joseph, and some other doper who shall remain nameless (like sskuggiii) loves to belittle me for that (among other things, but lets not go there). so what i need is support. people help me out here. JOSEPH MUST LIVE!
The first show I ever did was a high school production of Joseph. I made some fantastic friends and had a blast. I met one of my (then) best friends in that show, he was playing Joseph. Therefore, anyone (like sskuggiii) who badmouths it will get one nostaglia-ridden Swiddle attack. grrrrr…
Well, Joseph himself was an arrogant little twerp, but the play isn’t half bad. I think that the only problem with Andrew Lloyd Weber is that all of his music is the same-- Any given play can stand pretty well on its own, but if you view them collectively, it’s like, “why is this not all one play?”
thanks for the support everyone! see tasha, joseph is good, and joseph wasnt really an arrogant twerp, he was just a bit cocky “i look handsome. i look smart. i am a walking work of art.” and although joseph is cool, i myself am partial to simeon. “zose canaan days, we used to know, where have zey gone, where did zey goooooooo” but i know there must be some other dopers on this board who like it, help me out. 
This is a show which she almost always sang off-key tunes from. It drove us all nuts. I like the show, don’t get me wrong, but I have a preference to experience things in moderation. Not hearing about it or jason[who played simeon], or how good it was ** all the time ** would be nice. I am NOT badmouthing Joseph, I’d just rather nto hear the same thing all the time. Jessica, we had a similar talk a few dozen times about this. I don’t want to hear constant obsessions about anything, it gets annoying considering that I am often there to hear every little gush about everything. Even Jason. At least you’ve calmed down a bit about jason and joseph. Thank you for publicly making me look like i hate musicals when i don’t. 
I don’t have anything to add one way or the other, I just popped in to say that when I first read the title of this thread, I thought it said “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Democrat”.
when the hell did I say Joseph was bad? And I never said that Joseph was an arrogant twerp. That’s tony. I know you are partial to Simeon, but that’s only because it’s jason who played him. Are you out to make me look like i’m a bad person, or do you enjoy putting words in my mouth? And I wonder if you do this irl. If you do, that makes you a bad friend to talk shit that’s not true behind her back.
I was in JATATD summer after my frosh year. I loved it. Most of it, anyway.
That said, I find it annoying beyond words when people sing off-key and, if nothing else, don’t accept the fact that they’re doing that. When I was doing musicals in high school, there were some people who freely admitted they were tone-deaf. They didn’t enjoy singing (which raises the question of why they were in the musical, but anyway).
Tasha, why don’t you tell your friend who sings off-key that it bothers you, and that you’d like her to do it when you aren’t around her? Or you could suggest she listen to it and hum or use a walkman. Or you could do the same.

I mean, I like musicals as much as the next person. I voluntarily did Sound of Music this past year, even though I was in goofy [no, that wasn’t the word i used… breastlicious, that was it] costumes for most of the play. I never want to see that musical again. I mean, sure, I had fun, but just I didn’t like SofM all that much to start with. I am going to cringe when my mother gets the tape of the show that she ordered. But Jessica will enjoy it.[Oh captain, your first mate is standing at attention…lol, that was horrible.]
Patrick, she knows that everyone finds it annoying that she sings out of key, but, you know, some people love to sing. me included. I mean, i feel bad, but it annoys me.
OK, i guess I had this coming to me. I’m sorry for “publicly” making it look like you hate musicals, you dont. Hear that everyone, SHE DOESN’T. And I know I sing off key, but its not my fault. At least I dont deny it. And you cringe every time I even mention the word or anything that has to do with Joseph, before I ever start singing. But oh well, no big deal. And your’e right, i want to borrow your tape of S+M when you get it. Benny with short hair and Mr. “captain” I beleive the despription you used for your costum was “ugly but breastlicious”
Whoopie. A topic for me, the ALW CD fanatic.
First of all, ALW was only 19 (!) when he wrote
the show. It’s good, but he was very young.
Second of all, it was written for children. It’s
exposed millions of children to musical theatre.
I do have to wonder if this musical would have
survived had ALW and Tim Rice not gone onto
bigger and better things.
I cringe because you might start singing. It’s almost inevitable. And it’s SofM, not S&M. I don’t have any s&m tapes and never plan on having any. If you want kinky porn tapes, then you’ll have to go to Jordan for that. The only thing is, they might all be of Nicole and someone else. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!
