Joshua (Movie)

I just saw this movie in the Seattle International Film Festival.

It’s a story about a family who just had a new baby, and how this seems to be the catalyst for their 9 year old son to start acting rather scary.

The style of direction (camera/lighting/acting) portrays it as a rather serious film about family life and stress, while as the soundtrack and the script hint at a bit of horror. Overall, I would have to say that if you have any young children, or are ever considering having children–you probably don’t want to see this film! Even minus the horror elements, this movie does about as good a job at convincing you that signing up for family life is one of the lesser circles of hell and worry.

Not a perfect film, but I thought it deserved at least a pointing out since I doubt it will be advertised any.

I’m disappointed that Sam Rockwell hasn’t been in a movie for awhile and then he comes along in this.

Its worth seeing though?

It’s worth seeing.

I thought that Mr. Rockwell was somewhat miscast as a wealthy stock broker. He seems a bit stuttery and soft to be a high powered salesman who makes mucho bucks. But that didn’t detract from the movie appreciably.
