I had an AMC Credit about to expire so I decided to give this movie a try after reading an article about it (it was filmed not far from where I live).
It’s a ghost story told from the point of view of the Ghost (so if FPS games make you sick this may not be the movie for you).
The entire movie takes place in a house and it is quite a house. It’s really a beautiful home. I was a tad jealous
Leaving the theater I thought the movie wasn’t bad but it stuck with me for most of the day which suggests I liked it more than I realized.
It’s not a jump scare horror movie but it has an eerieness and is essentially a family drama at the end of the day so if you are turned off by horror you still may want to give this a shot.
I had seen it at an early screening with a Q&A afterwards with the filmmakers & cast, and had been a bit disappointed since the film was advertised as being scary and terrifying (and it most definitely is not!) I then gave it another shot and saw it again over the weekend and this time I really liked it! I think as long as you go in knowing that despite what the trailers are selling you, this is not a horror film, this is a sad family drama, you will enjoy it more.
Something I liked about the movie was how the traditional family drama gender roles were swapped. The Dad was sensitive, caring and a good parent to both kids while the Mom was distant, pretty terrible and overtly favored one child over the other. It was an interesting dynamic.
