That damned Fox Network, giving us shows like The Simpsons.
:smack:
Joss whedon lost his gusto years ago, about five seasons into Buffy…
Bathroom’s down the hall, buddy.
This is the best news I’ve heard in awhile.
Whedon has an amazing track record (for good shows, that is. Not necessarily shows that stay on the air.) I have little doubt that it will be a quality show, and I am hoping against all hope that it will last more than a handful of episodes.
I watched the Simpsons last night for the first time in a long, long time. What a waste of time. It’s fallen so far that I hardly recognized it. I think they are now using unemployed high school dropouts to write the material.
Based on what? The massive success he had with Firefly? Whedon may be a talented person and have a strong fan cult but the networks look at him and see a guy who’s had some big flops.
I’ll be in mah bunk.
I wonder if they’re casting for the role of Alexis Denisof!
Don’t forget the huge box office of Serenity, now!
Well he’s already signed Eliza Dushku…
You have a very troubling notion of what constitutes a pressing engagement.
Your ideas intrigue me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
No Wookiees.
I’m sure “Firefly” would probably lose a lot of steam by Season 17, too.
The weird criticism of Fox for cancelling shows ignores the fact that Fox gives shows a chance that would never, ever get a shot anywhere else; in fact, their success is responsible, in part, for a general improvement in the variety and quality of TV series over the last 15 years or so. (There are other factors too; I’m not just crediting Fox.) You can bitch and whine about “Firefly,” but it’s hard to deny that Fox has also put a lot of good shows on TV for at least three or four seasons that would not have gotten a chance anywhere else, or if they did get a chance would have been altered ten times as much. If “Arrested Development” had been on CBS it would have had a laugh track.
As for the OP, I’m skeptical. Whedon’s schtick is “Pretty girl who does karate stuff” - he couldn’t even bring himself to not do it in his sci-fi show. It’s a schtick that’s awfully played out, and unless he’s bringing something new to the table, this show will probably go the way of Eliza Dushku’s last show, “Tru Calling,” which lasted 27 episodes.
And was on life support after the first six.
The good news is, you got the part; the bad news is, Kate Flannery got the Hannigan role (no knock on Meredith, but she’s no Willow ).
It ain’t about box office numbers anymore, it’s about DVD sales.
To paraphrase Kevin Smith: Theatrical release is just a commercial for the DVD.
And Serenity did very well on DVD.
Touchiees OK, tho?

You misspelled “Eliza Dushku,” but otherwise, amen and hallelujah!
Wow, that’s great. Show some real faith, Fox, go for 22 eps.
