It looks like Joss has been given the go ahead to make a S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot for ABC. I don’t think Samuel L. would want to be tied up in a weekly tv series, so who do you think should be in the cast?
Dennis Haysbert would probably make a decent TV version of Nick Fury. (I realize that Fury was a white guy for decades but, due to the movies, people now think of him as a black character.)
Perhaps they’ll get David Hasselhoff to reprise the role.
Seems like anything they do with a TV show budget would seem kinda rinky-dink when people still have the big-budget films fresh in their minds. I don’t think painting a body-builder green is going to cut it.
I doubt Cobie Smulders will be involved, either. She already has a hit TV series to shoot.
Ending this season actually. She’s probably the most “gettable” of the movie cast (though she wasn’t very good in the movie, IMHO).
Mmm, I am hopeful, yet suspicious. This could tank sooo easily, especially since a lot of people will tune in hoping to see the stars and will turn it off if no Downey is forthcoming (though maybe they could show for the first episode?
Ugh, ABC? They’re awful.
Little Nemo:
Possibly this began with Marvel’s “Ultimate” universe, before the movies began. Though obviously the movies made the image really dominant.

Maybe, but they’re owned by Disney, and so is Marvel, so where else would you expect it to air?
Is that confirmed? I’m sure I read somewhere there’s still a possibility of another.
If Clark Gregg isn’t on this show I’ll be supremely disappointed. I have high hopes for the show, SHIELD seems perfect for prime time TV. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for season long story arcs involving HYDRA or A.I.M.
Would it actually feature any of the Avengers superheroes? Or would this be more of a secret government intelligence organization featuring agents with no special powers (like Phil Coulson)?
They wouldn’t have the budget for any of the current heroes. My guess is that it’ll be focused on SHIELD agents, perhaps with appearances form Marvel’s B and C list heroes/villains. If they’re smart they’ll also introduce characters they’re making into movies here first so they can drum up ratings.
It’s specifically set in the same universe as the movies so they probably won’t recast any parts from the films. My guess is it will be a field office with a whole new set of characters.
Joss Weldon is an agent of SHEILD? Cool.
I’m thinking Amy Acker or Felicia Day will show up at some point.
CBS wants to do another year after this season, but the cast’s contracts all expire in May and most of them don’t want to re-up. So I doubt it’ll continue.
Or the E.L.E.
What? It could happen.
Knowing Joss I’m betting it’s a field office of regular humans with drop-ins by B-list heroes. It’s not on FOX, which is a plus.
They have a quite a few characters to pick from, like “Dum Dum” Dugan, the Contessa, Gabe Jones, Jasper Sitwell, Clay Quartermain, Sharon Carter, Jimmy Woo and quite a few others.
