Anyone still watching this show? I hope so, because it’s turned into one of my favorites this season. They’ve done a good job of making his trips through time catch up with his present, they’re not just one-offs. Also they’re injecting some intrigue as to the ‘what’s going on’ aspect. And finally developing the characters into something far less annoying than what it started out as.
This episode clinched it for me. I want it to be picked up for more seasons. C’mon NBC… don’t drop the ball yet again…
So now his brother is “in on it”, so to speak? And who was that FBI agent? That way he talked, ie “they always make that mistake” it seems clear he knows something about what was going on…to bad he (I presume) died.
Right, I’m glad they finally had his brother come around. It was the last vestige of the opening premise that was becoming unnerving. Although, in hindsight, I have to say it made for some gripping TV.
Yeh, just as soon as they shed some light on the FBI, we find out he’s rogue AND knows something was going on STC* wise, they kill him off. I was just beginning to root for him, actually.
Such a cool show, it almost hurts me to speculate. I fear it’s on the brink of cancellation.
Also, I think the FBI agent was sharper than his peers and started noticing these anachronisms himself. I don’t think he’s affiliated with whomever’s doing this to Dan/Livia. So he started abusing his resources to investigate into Dan’s life. Curiosity killed the cat.
I gave it a shot - caught the first four episodes. That he always has to do the boy scout stuff and it always works out with saintly results is the kiss of death for me, when one negative task to “fix” history (i.e. kill a guy who’s just an ordinary guy, but would one day accidentally create a disaster) would’ve saved it. How did it end? After the perv’s traumatic childhood was fixed, did he grow up to work for Amnesty International or something?
More Terminator, less Quantum Leap / Touched By an Angel, please. Way to waste a 10:00 p.m. timeslot.
No, Dan wanted to kill the little boy, while teetering on blood loss and infection. Eventually Liv called an ambulance in 1980 and they both disappeared while en route to the hospital. In the end, after the perv shot and killed the FBI agent that was on Dan’s tail about the hostage loot, Dan convinced the shooter that he should plead insanity, rather than getting a bullet in his head from Dan’s brother (Jack). His brother finally believed him about the time traveling because, Liv was transported to meet Jack and get his brother out of the hospital and over to his house again.
Terminator’s on its way. But I wouldn’t get too excited.
I get the Quantum Leap comparison, but this has a totally different vibe and angle. Similar premise, much different execution. This is way more episodic and overarching as well. Like I said, the shows are not one-offs like QL was.
One of the things I read in reviews was that the biggest problem this show has is a lack of likable characters. I have to agree with that - while they are great characters, the editor of the newspaper is the only likable one in the show.
Having said that, I hope it does get picked up. I don’t need to want to hang out with these guys and buy them a beer. I just want them to entertain for an hour a week, and they’ve been doing that quite well!
I like that the characters are flawed, and that their marriage is difficult, and that we are slowly finding out what’s going on with all the time travelling. I wish Livia would give a few more answers - she obviously knows more than she’s let on so far. For example, who’s “teaching [Dan] a lesson?” And I look forward to the ramifications of the FBI guy getting shot – you know that they won’t just drop that story thread.
yeah - it’s finally hitting its stride - we now have ‘just enough’ of the ‘bigger’ story to make the smaller stories interesting… I actually watched last nites ‘live’ and not days later - that says alot for this show.
I’m really enjoying it, with the bittersweet mix of knowing that the poor ratings means it is likely to be cancelled. I just hope that if it does get cancelled that they allow for some sort of closure or revelation in the last episode.
In that case you must find, somewhere, the episodes she did as the the girlfriend of a time traveling cop in a show called Daybreak. Basically every show started on the same day that repeated over and over, and over and over we were treated to Livia waking up in her lingerie, every single episode. I cried when that show was cancelled.
