"Judex" (1916) on TCM

Is anyone watching the French serial Judex on TCM Sunday nights? I’ve been taping it, but haven’t had time to actually sit down and watch it.

Anyone else seen it?

I am so jealous. I can’t get TCM here, but Judex is on the top (or bottom, due to the date) of two lists of films I’m trying to work through. Don’t know where I’ll see it.

Damn, if you weren’t in New Zealand, I’d send you my tape after I watched it. But I don’t think our VCRs are compatible?

I loved Les Vampires, which also had Musidora in it and was directed by Louis Feuillade, so I hope this one’s good, too.

We missed the first night (Episodes 1 - 3), alas – our TiVo didn’t keep it, for some bizarre reason. However, we’re watching Episodes 4 - 7 now. It’s very interesting… a little confusing by coming in midstream

I’m not sure about VCR compatibility with New Zealand, there must be some way to overcome that li’l obstacle.

Awww, it’s okay. I’ll get it eventually; I think it’s on DVD. I’ll be back in the States in a couple of months. I appreciate the sentiment, though.

I have to start paying attention to the TV listings. I had no idea this was running. I read about Judex in an old monster mag, of all places – “Castle of Frankenstein” – when I was a kid. They published a few blurry pictures, and it looked intriguing. Now I’m going to have to look it up, even if I do get thoroughy confused.

They’re showing the last four episodes next Sunday night, the 17th, at midnight. After I finally get done watching it (I haven’t even started yet), I’d be happy to loan out my tape to anyone still old-fashioned enough to use videos.

I’m taping it for a friend who adores silents (and I’m missing out on watching poker to do it so you know it’s serious) but I want to see it too. Even if Robert Osborne does think Batman was created by Bob Crane.

I can’t help thinking “Judex” is what you use if you’re being stalked by Jude Law.

No, K-Y is what I’d use if I were being stalked by Jude Law.
