He took the young man’s transgression seriously, and punished him accordingly. But then he connected with him on the young man’s level, and no doubt gave him a lesson - or at least something to think about.
I understand judges wouldn’t always have the time to do something like this. But it seems a better approach than just looking down their noses from benches on high.
I’m trying to imagine the Dutch equivalent to this… probably a former hippy judge challenging a 20 year old to a pot smoking match after an illegal basketball playing violation.
does imply though that the negative stereotypes are true and he was still right for punishing him, which isnt true. im sure pot can help you play better.
This is awesome! Can I just say that as a non-smoking musician, I am so sick and tired of people telling me that smoking pot makes them better musicians! Oh, so once I start smoking I’ll be good? Right. Maybe practicing less and smoking more will help me along my rise to Hendrix-like stardom. In fact, without pot, Jimi would have been nothing!
Pot’s probably fun, and I’m not knocking it as a fun passtime, but please, it ain’t no performance enhancer.
-blinks at Mr Friendly- Of course it implies negative stereotypes man. But pot doesn’t make you perform better, maybe a hoot or two will relax you enough not to be so tense and nervous you’ll bungle the game but a whole doobie won’t make you any better. In fact it makes me just wanna sit around and do nothing, or stare at the lovely moving pictures on the tv. Certainly not play sports, or be a musician.
