I think I had this conversation with my father (who speaks both Yiddish and Hebrew). I noticed the similarity of the words and he pointed out that it was just a coincidence. I, of course, half remembered the conversation and got it backwards.
Incidentally Hello Again, the Yiddish Forward newspaper is still around. And my parents were talking just the other day about going to see a play in Yiddish.
