Does Snuffy Smith have a brother or sister? Are they dead? Where did Jughaid come from? Is he like one of those young kids tv shows wedge into a show when they run out of stories? Just curious, can’t seem to find out much about Jughaid in Hooten Holler, seems he’s always overshadowed online by Riverdale Jughead.

I once got curious as to the parentage of Louie, Dewey, and Huey, and their cousins April, May, and June. Believe it or not, you can find the lineage of most of the Duck clan on the Internet.
I have yet to trace the family tree of the Mouse family, though (Mickey, Minnie, Morty, Ferdie, Millie, and Tilly).

He could be kin to Aunt Loweezy’s side of the family.
Huh…that’s possible!.. Or maybe he’s just an orphan with the honorary title of ‘nephew’. No matter who he was living with, they would be addressed as ‘aunt’ or ‘uncle’, and by default he would be ‘our nephew’.
I wonder if this is something the Comics Curmudgeon has ever tackled. Digging through his archives might give you an answer.
I found this cartoon which gives his full name as Jughaid Smith, which would imply he’s from Snuffy’s side of the family.
But…
There’s another relative in the mix; niece Bizzy Buzz Buzz. And she’s the daughter of Loweezy’s sister. However, in this strip, Snuffy says Bizzy’s full name is Bizzy Buzz Buzz Smith (actually he says Smif but we’ll put that down to the accent).
So maybe Loweezy’s sister Martha coincidentally married a man named Smith?

I’m inclined to be charitable and assume that Loweezy and her sister married two brothers. That would account for Loweezy referring to Bizzy as “our niece” - she’s the daughter of Snuffy’s brother and Loweezy’s sister and is therefore related to both of them without any illicit relationship being involved.

It could just be that everyone happens to have the same last name. Sometimes it works out that way.
