I know - what’s so hard about spelling Julie Louise Dreyfus?
Like she’s earned a place next to John Wayne, Orson Welles, and Katherine Hepburn!
J’accuse!
She was pretty cool about it. Good for her.
Well, if she’d just spell it Louie like an American, she wouldn’t have trouble.
KathArine Hepburn
Hey, she’s cute, and she’s a freakin’ billionaire (-ess?) She can’t seriously complain about much…
I don’t think she capitalizes the A. But you were close.
I’m assuming you’re talking about her supposed Seinfeld salary. But a lot of people don’t realize Dreyfus (and Alexander and Richards) never collected the widely reported salary they had negotiated.
In their negotiations for the tenth season, the three actors stuck together and insisted a major raise. The show, faced with the prospect of losing three of its four regulars, gave in and agreed to give them $600,000 per episode in the upcoming season.
But then Seinfeld, who was one of the show’s owners as well as its star (and who had been getting a million dollars per episode as an actor on top of his ownership money) decided to end the show and not have a tenth season. The other three never received their new salary.
There was reportedly a lot of ill will over this decision at the time.
Pretty sure Hail Ants is talking about the money she will likely inherit when her father, Gerard Louis-Dreyfus, dies. Forbes has him valued at roughly $2.9 billion. If she gets all that, she’ll wind up way more wealthy than Paris Hilton and seemingly much more well-adjusted.
When the DVDs of the show came out the other actors declined to promote them because they were not getting any money. Seinfeld cut a deal to pay them so they ended up plugging the DVDs on various talk shows. Seinfeld went off the air in 98 and back then nobody thought that DVDs of a TV show would sell.
She’s also been in a second successful sitcom for the last few years, and Seinfeld still runs in syndication everywhere. So she does okay even without her inheritance.
Yeah, not to mention prettier, classier, and about a million times smarter!
Funny, today at work we were talking about how she doesn’t get the recognition she deserves. And now this!
