I believe I’ve encountered a commonplace of middle aged divorced women who’ve embraced their bisexuality and who’d certainly be broadminded enough to have lunch with a bisexual man, but could never consider dating him.

You guys are missing something. The band she is in has been held up by gay Russians as being a pro-gay force, due to the lesbianism of her band. This is kinda like k.d.lang or someone coming out and saying she would disown her gay son. It’s as if Neil Patrick Harris came out and said he’d disown his lesbian daughter. Imagine if Cher came out and said something like this.

Do you really not know popular TATU were in 2002? They were everywhere. Looking it up on Wikipedia, their album apparently sold 8 million copies worldwide (almost a million in the US).
Didn’t the lesbian thing only last a little while? I remember them both “coming out” as straight pretty shortly after they became famous. I’d be surprised if they had a particular cachet with Russian LGBTs, given how transparently the whole thing was designed specifically to cater to straight male sexual fantasies.
Well…this gained them one listener : me. I went to youtube to check (never heard of them). Unfortunately, I’ve no sound at times on my computer, and it was such a time. So, I can’t tell anything about their music and vocal talent, but I confirm they’re a perfectly underage lebian pop group, complete with japanese-style schoolgirl miniskirts. The “manufactured” part seems quite obvious given how caricatural it is, so I’m perfectly willing to trust them on that.
i wonder if very attractive young gays kissing would be considered by her more acceptable than not attractive, older lesbians, given her arguments.
